Here's my recent hoyas I got off of ebay.

Sorry the first 2 pics are blurry I was in a hurry this morning before I left for work but wanted to grab some pics. The H. Loyceandrewisiana is extreamly large. The stem is probably as big around as my finger and the leaf is very thick and heavy.

I tried to reduce the size of the pictures in photobucket but everytime I did it kicked me out of photobucket completely (I tried several times) so I gave up.

Thanks and sorry the pics are blurry, they didn't really give the hoyas justice. But it was either do it in a hurry or I might get it done in the next month or so.

Parker, If there is no response to a posting, it stays at the top. Once there's a response, it moves down as new responses come to newer postings. So when one has been at the top without a response for a long time, someone will respond just to get it moving "down and out" so to speak. If you don't know how to respond, "bump" will work. I was thinking of just responding with "huh???" Denise in Omaha

Well, if you look at the rest of this sellers items, they are collectables ( ceramics etc ) He probably just has that one carnosa, maybe knows nothing about plants, and really believed he had seeds! Maybe he tried to germinate them but figured he didn't have the touch. I am not saying it wasn't dishonest to say "long germination time" when he really didn't know, but I didn't sense any real malice here - if he was trying to really screw people intentionally, would he have been spending what looked like alot of time collecting fallen flowers (that bag was full) and then take a picture of the flowers? No, this was just ignorance - I am sure he was very embarrassed when he found out he just selling dead flowers, poor thing. No harm was done, it was caught in time, thats all that matters. Next time this person will do some research when he isn't sure about what he is selling!

Thx EMT, is this how you brought yours back, by cutting & soaking? HI GL, I'd potted up the plant, more than a month ago, but it appears not to be taking up liquid. So, I unpotted it, saw roots at the bottom of the stem & cut some of them off, cutting back the a bit of the bottom stem end to green growth, in btwn some of the roots (still left some). Am trying to get it to drink & plump up. Today, while it doesn't look better, it does feel firmer when I hold the cutting in my hand.

Shanna I would love to see some pics of your new Hoya loyceandrewisiana once it puts out some new growth. That is one beefy looking Hoya! Have you been able to find any information on it? I did a quick search and came up with nothing other than the eBay source you got your plant from. Do you know if Hoya loyceandrewisiana is a valid name?

Well Mike,

I know you're asking Shanna, but I believe that is a legitimate name. At least I've heard of it in use for a few yrs. now by some folks who should know & whose judgment I trust, who used to sell some plants from his own greenhouse, but does no longer. It's never occurred to me to even wonder if the name was legit? Hum .. wonder how one would find out such a thing?

Kookie I looked this Hoya up on the site you mentioned and came up with a different spelling, Hoya loyceandrewsiana. With a little searching I found a nice site that discusses this species.

After reading the thread asking about whether latifolia and macrophylla are the same, I just had my memory refreshed after reading Mike's post about Hoya loyceandrewsiana. This is supposedly the same as H. latifolia - at least, that's why I recall being told.

By the way, H. loyceandrewsiana is named after someone (could it be Loyce Andrews or Andrew Loyce? I think it's one of those - my memory is shot!).

I had a link to a site that explained that H latifolia
is/has been known by 2 other names, but since it's from
a certain website, I cannot provide the link. Instead I will
copy and paste that info for your reference..

"David Liddle has confirmed that this IML 88 IS H. latifolia. These leaves can become HUGE (close to 9" x 9") and they must weigh up to a lb. each. Best to buy this plant when young and start training the vines...as they become thick and stiff and impossible to manipulate. The lightish green leaves with the splotches, venation and the deep red margins are striking!!! This hoya has been sold as H. diversifolia B and then as H. loyceandrewsiana. I like this hoya for the foliage...which is dramatic...sort of H. obovata on steroides. " (Credit goes to a certain grower in
