Comments (3)Yes, a camellia. It is natural for it to have some yellow leaves at this time of year as, although it is evergreen it does shed old leaves annually. Also the fact that it has fruit means it flowered last spring so it is reasonably healthy. However, you are right it does look a bit scrawny. The leaves appear to mostly facing towards the fence. Is there something shading it where the camera is? Or have you just cleared away some other shrubs from in front of it? You could prune it but without improving the light it will get leggy again. However they do not need full sun and can cope with quite a bit of shade....See Morehelp! why is my hoya turning brown?
Comments (9)I've seen brown blotches on some of the mostly white/all white leaves of my Hoya before (same one you have, H. carnosa 'Krimson Queen'). It just seemed normal for mine as it would shed one of the mentioned leaves every once in a while. In the winter, it did seem more common though to drop the mostly white/all white leaves when I had it indoors. I don't believe it's anything to worry about unless you notice a mass amount (more than say a two or three at a time). Planto...See Morehoya serpens leaves curling and turning brown
Comments (1)Sorry, Patrick, this is one I haven't grown in some yrs. That's why I couldn't really offer advice abt the withering stems which post I saw. I too suffer that ailment once in a while (esp. w/ Carnosas, which I have recently given up on). Have you unpotted it recetnly to check the drainage? I don't really know what to suggest other than the roommate needs to leave the windows alone or the plant is likely to get too cold &/or rot. I wouldn't water it if it's still cold, OR if watering move it well away from the cold windows....See MoreWhy do my Hoya runners suddenly turn yellow and die?
Comments (4)Thanks for your reply. I've even clipped the vines into an upwards position onto the hanging tripod stems and they still yellow and die back. When the vines get too long and unmanagable, I wrap the vines around the outside of the plant and secure them with plastic hair claw pinchers (the Dollar Store) that are loose and not tight in an untaught upward position. I've tried increasing misting, decreasing misting, changed to dif types of foliar feeding including fish emulsion. At this point I'm just not going to dwell on it and accept it as a quirk of the indiv plant. Otherwise, I'll make myself crazier. Thanks again for your reply. Krisi...See Morejane13
