I have had a ball on the auction. I never went on it for over a year, and then I made up for lost time. The sellers I've had excellent luck with are Abundant, bnich, Ruby, Zidjian, De, Dreamscape...I've had deliveries from these. I will comment (to you) on others after delivery. Rita had a comment on one she was happy with a few days ago, you can search for it or just ask her. Also Rich is good. I have ordered from him and his plants are awesome.

Cindy- Your in zone 5, go for spring delivery. Fall is just to risky for you now. Also look at the terms of each auction carefully especially now. Some are listing for Fall delivery ONLY, some for spring ONLY and some will ship now or hold for spring.

I haven't bought much in the way of plants on the LA, mostly seeds. But I did order from Rich Howard this past spring and his plants are excellent. I also second (or is that third now) the recommendation for Abundant Daylilies. Very nice quality plants and service.

The above recommendations are all great. I'd add Bigstump (since Helen and Henry (Pinebeltman) sell under different LA ID's but the plants come from the same place and are always very good). Rich is just a super guy to deal with. Boxcar always sells great quality plants and seeds. Mljomo (James Hall) has always sent quality plants. JRT is very generous and I've pretty much always got more fans than he states in his listings. Gran (Mary Gaskin) and NDL (Nicole Harry) also send super nice big quality plants.

I got great plants from Rondas,Packrat, Jb, and I can't remember the others. But I would buy from these again for sure. I'm trying really hard not to spend too much on the LA this year, the budget is stretched pretty thin. However i still bid on a few things that are really cheap, I figure if I get outbid it wasn't meant to be. Good luck and have fun.

In addition to the hybridizer's thread, Underground is Phil Korth here in WI.

I would have to say I have been 98% pleased with all of my purchases off the LA, no matter who it's been. There are only a couple I would never buy from again, but like my mom has always told me, if you can't say something nice, don't say it at all ;) One hybridizer that I refuse to mention on this list certainly has a problem with communication! Email after email with zero response. I personally don't think that is good business! I finally had to call!! Thank goodness they had a website with a phone number!

In addition to the ones already mentioned, I would add Screek & Breeze, they both rock!!

A heads up on Abundantdaylilys...if you pay immediately thru paypal, they will ship you the next day. He doesn't notice the messages in paypal so you have to send him a separate email telling him so.

Whatever you do, do not bid on any of ahead's auctions....I could do without the added competition LOLOL. OK joking aside, if you're interested in seeds, he has some wonderful crosses; from time to time, plants as well, so be on the look out....definitely auctions you might like to try winning!

I would just jump in, as most auctions you win will leave you very happy. Some of my fav sellers haven't been mentioned here, but there are so many good sellers that a long, long list is kind of pointless.

Since you are in zone 5, if I were you, I'd follow Rita's advice and stay away from fall delivery on pricier/newer daylilies. I don't know where you are, but you may be taking a risk at this point. Last fall, I bought a bunch of Trimmers and Stamiles from someone I know in Alabama. This is not something I'd ordinarily do, but the deals were fantastic and, equally important, I had an ideal spot for them (south facing bed in front of a stucco wall and next to a stone patio, completely protected from oncoming storms and wind by the house itself). Every one of them survived and has flourished. However, had I not had that location, I probably would not have bought those plants.

Sorry, Cindy, but my motto is: all's fair in love, war, and daylilies. My auction name is not the same as the one I use here, and I'll bid against almost anybody. :)

But don't worry....I also lose a lot of my auction attempts! So if you're even somewhat aggressive, you probably will beat me LOLOL.

I have happily received plants from most of the names already listed. I don't think I saw Angelo listed. This past week I got some great plants from him.
I am also in zone 5 and I know, I know, we don't do well with EV's; but sometimes I just have to get them. Really the only success I have had with them are some Stamile's

I agree with Lynxe - and I certainly wouldn't mind at all anyone here bidding on the same auction as me!

I have bid on LA offerings from many different sellers. Have never had a major problem keeping my fingers crossed.

I agree with lynxe regarding bidding against folks who are on a forum of which you are a member. After all it is an auction and that is what it is all about bidding. Growing daylilies to sell involves a lot of work and expense from purchasing plants, planting, weeding, mulching, fertilizing all the way to digging, cleaning, packaging and sending plus collecting payment. From my standpoint I think the seller earns every penney and should have folks bidding against each other. After all we want them to continue selling to us on the LA.
