Friday blooms - repeats

Mostly cloudy here with possibility of more rain for the next couple of days (says the weatherperson from one local station and the other one from another local station says it will be a nice weekend).

COTTAGE CANDY - looking really saturated today from all the rain. Still on my favorite list! The picture is very accurate as to the bloom color and what you see in person.

DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU scapes are all pumped up. Hope I get to see some bloom. I planted it this spring so I guess it is blooming off cycle.

My wildlife photo for the day are the Finches on the coneflowers picking off the seeds. 2 males and 2 females were having breakfast.

I know not many people like marigolds but I like to see that pop of color when other plants are fading out. These were some I found among the daylilies. I did not plant any this year but these reseeded from last year. After the last couple of days of rain, these really pumped up and spread.

That is it for today. Still on bloom watch for a couple that sent up scapes. Found 3 more prolifs. One on PINK AT THE BALLET and 2 on a scape which I took out and then realized it had prolifs on it BUT, I can't remember which plant I got it from. So it has to be either PINK WHIP TIPS, CAPACITY FOR WONDER, JOSHUA SLOCUM OR SPARTACUS ADORNED. At least I know what area I was taking scapes from. LOL.

Love the pinks Julia! And I, for one, like marigolds. I plant them every year just for the color and to keep the bugs away.

I suppose Cottage Candy is not hardy in my neck of the woods but it sure is a great color!

Have yet to experience prolifs as my plants are still so new. Always fun to watch what is to bloom I guess.

Love the bird shot! We seldom get gold finches this far north but once in a while they come by. I put out thistle all year for them. TFS your colorful pics! :)

I love the Marigolds. I plant some each year myself also. They just add so much summer color and go on till frost. PLus there are so many pretty color varieties these days.

I have left the dryed seed heads on my coneflowers for the goldfinches here to enjoy also. I do every year. Great pictures! I can never get a picture as those darn birds flit away if I go anywhere near them.

Your daylilies are looking look. My favorite is COTTAGE CANDY. Really lovely color on that one.

Bravo! I have just looked at your 3 posts from Friday and I love all of them. I am trying to catch up on everyone's posts but am so busy trying to get all my yard work done and still hurting from the dog bites, but when I take a break I come here to the forum. It's funny that my two favorites are so vastly different....Burning Inheritance with it's flashy, bold color and Julianna Lynn with it's delicate & demure colors. I just love all daylilies anyways, and in my garden I have every color and form imaginable. Variety is the spice of life! Celeste

Thank you everybody! Chorus Line finally opened well, after 6 or 7 uglies. Julia :) About JKO spelling. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Btw, she already overwintered once, and actually was one of the three new daylilies that survived the winter. Tatiana is a diploid, so the flower is smaller, I'd say about 3" ?

Julia, I've had Pearl Cove for 4 years and this is the first year I've had any rebloom. Funny, because some that usually rebloom didn't. soccrmom, There are 3 buds left on Sundays with Vernon and I think there are 6 or 7 on After Awhile Crocodile. Since SWV is a bud builder there could still be more buds coming, but it's getting pretty late for them to bloom.

Cottage Candy is sure pretty, I don't think I've seen that one before. Love the goldfinches. I've left my coneflower seed heads on this year, I'm sure I'll have coneflowers everywhere next year, but I really enjoy the goldfinches.

Brent Ross (Cottage Gardens) intros do very good here. I love the COTTAGE CANDY and BUDDING ELEGANCE ones since they are midlates. I do notice that CC here tends to have more of a bluish tone for the watermark instead of pinkish as he describes. He also sent me GRETTA GRAPETTE which also just bloomed and bloomed here this season but much earlier than these two. They have been here 2 full seasons so I guess they like it here.
The finches are so pretty and I enjoy watching them. Better I show a picture of them then the skunk I saw this morning out in the field. Definitely would need the telephoto lens for that shot LOL.

Cottage Candy is really a beauty and is my favorite daylily here. Double Dog Dare You looks like it will be a great bloomer with all those buds.
I've cut off a lot of my echinacea flowers because they were falling over, but I did save some for the goldfinches.

I love that Cottage Candy - it is now on my list.

I have goldfinches in my echinacia but I can't manage to
get a picture yet. I have a good zoom on my camera but
those little birds are smarter than I am.

I love marigolds, always have, but I didn't have a space to
put a few--I'll work on that.

W.Valentines Day is so pretty.LOve the shot of the finches.I have never seen any here..I planted 12 plants of the Marigolds last year, but, not this year,and I had so many that reseeded and I was always pulling some out as they kept getting so thick.Marigolds are good to have as they just keep blooming until a freeze here.A frost dont kill them, but a heavt freeze will kill them.

COTTAGE CANDY is lovely. Who says people don't like marigolds! I like them, and the garden centers always have lots for sale, so someone must be buying them.
