mantis: I can only assume the lack of water and perhaps the late snowstorm and hard freezes we had this spring set SS back. It was doing so good when we had the spring warm up and then downhill. It is one of the ones I plan to move to the back garden. Linda: I'm willing to sweat a bit to get the pounds off from all the ice cream I've been eating the past month LOL. nat4b: I usually will get about 12 - 15 buds per scape on LOTW here. I still like this one even with the bad budcount this year. Ellie and Chris: Thanks for the comments. I took the photos of the one garden section last Thursday. Now, only a few blooms remain as of today. Sorry site for sure but makes it much easier to start moving plants. Julia

Bob, I live in Upstate NY, Zone 5 - about 45 minutes south of Julia (I think she is zone 6 because of her proximity to one of the Finger Lakes). I received EMERALD STARBURST in a trade last fall. I potted it up and sunk the pot in my vegetable garden. It survived the winter and of the five fans, I have 3 scapes. Each bloom looks like the one posted. I grow nothing like, so it is my favorite at the moment. I also managed to obtain ROSE F. KENNEDY and I can't wait to see that one bloom. ADORABLE TIGER was obtained this past spring, so I can't comment on its vigorousness. I have heard that it is a slow increaser. When one has limited space, a slow increaser is ok = less digging. 'Monday was the first day without rain in 10 days'......can I switch regions with you for a week? LOL. Anyway, we did get a one day rain event, our first in an entire month. It barely put a dent in our drought. Now the forecast calls for more sunshine for another week. Weird how some places all it does is rain, and here all it does is shine. As to your lovely daylilies, I love that shot of SC Tigertail Tango and All Revved Up. Stunningly Different lives up to it's name!
