Babka - I went to the site ... Enjoyed reading JGH's post ... then noticed it is two years old! Oh well, so curiosity took over and I read over his very extensive hosta list...which he updated in May of this year. Wow, what a list!!! I have, from time to time, wondered how he's doing and miss him on the forum. Oh yeh! I fell in love with Guardian Angel last summer when I saw a couple of large specimens. Bought two of them late last summer from Green Mountain. The one out front by the driveway is limping along...very late to emerge but that prolly had something to do with DH piling snow on it over the winter. The other one, planted out in the neglected 'do or die' patch has grown gangbusters. I need to loosen the soil around the one in front and try to remember to toss a plastic crate over the crown this coming winter...to help carry some of the weight of the snow.

Irawon, pleased to have another "word" person to bat meanings back and forth! I have Stuart Asch's Stiff Upper Lip......another body part reference, but acceptable in polite circles. Thanks for the picture of your Ice Cream. It is a low spreading medium hosta, right? I can always go for such a neat plant. With Heart And Soul, I have several other "heart" types....which are what I call small...or they are so far anyway. Heartache (medium), Dear Heart, Happy Hearts, Cheatin Heart, Glass Heart, and soon will have Faithful Heart. So Heart And Soul is a welcome addition.

You guys could have told me they do that so I could have had a pot for poor El Nino and not said "OH NO" when I unwrapped him first!! LOL! (Steve, these aren't the first hosta I got online. I got my Fortunei Hyancintha (SP?), Fire Island, Blue Mouse Ears and PUD or Pineapple Juice online last year as TC starters. I am way more impressed with Hallson's though! So I am a returning customer! So what you all are saying is that I really just need to pick one other for sure that I want like Touch of class and I'll get another bonus that will make it 20? Awesome!! I am thinking either Striptease or the one pictured in the corner on this site... What is that one again, one of the tiaras I thought? Esther, I would love the railing idea but my patio is slightly off... Not exactly level. A common problem living in the Ozark mountains. And if you notice, my hosta are all level because I have pieces of cardboard or something underneath making them so. I don't know if a railing would work or not? It might just bunch them together. Karen, I've already started placing them around the patio instead of on... I am quickly running out of room that way, too!! And Sidney, yes... I have imagined what arrangement would look best about 1000 times!
