Yellow seedling pic

This is my favorite seedling so far.It is the color of a lemon rind with a white midrib.I can't seem to capture the color in the sun or the shade,but then I am no photographer.

It gets more ruffeled after the first bloom.

We're using the same lights. I have two of those fixtures over 4 trays total (as of today). But mine are probably leggy because they were too hot previously, and also maybe because they were under HPS lighting. Keep us posted on how they harden off outside. I'm going to sow another batch of cabbage, broc/caul with my now lower temps and fluro lighting. I'll update later to see if there is a noticeable difference.

It depends on which yellow baptisia you are growing. If you have one of the native yellows (i.e. b. spaerocarpa) and your plant is isolated (they cross pollinate easily), your seedlings should be like the plant you gathered the seeds from. Hybrids like Carolina Moonlight (cross between a white and a yellow) will not come true from seed, at least not 100% of the time, although you could find you have some nice plants if you are patient enough to grow them to flowering size.

This is the third one. It's a little more muted than the first. The fourth is about to bloom. It looks to be a straight lemon yellow with no sign of any orange tints.

bishop ... posts are free... start your own.. we can enlighten you .. and others at teh same time... peeps might not come back to this post ... GS has transitory color changes thru the whole season ... so yours will not look like pix in spring.. or late fall .. the center starts yellow.. and can go as far as parchment white in a lot of sun ... its coloration is very dependent on its location as to sun ... start a new post... and the rest of us can discuss it with you ... but never NOT ASK a question ... the only stupid question.. is the unasked question ... ken

I see the white midrib. You take fine photos, but sometimes the camera just can't capture the same beauty the human eye sees.

Is the seedling from your own cross?

Very pretty! It seems to have a lot of texture. What is the parentage? I just can't wait for my seedlings to bloom next year.

Thats a very pretty seedling.I have 3 or 4 seedlings growing too,but may be next year before I see a bloom on them.
