Very nice photo arrangement! Jan, I have several Hoya obovata. They do great as housplants. I used to leave mine in the house all winter and move it onto a covered porch in spring, where it would bloom all summer! This year I left them in the Greenhouse all winter and have two covered in blooms! One has been on the porch since early spring and has been blooming nonstop! We have simular weather conditions, I'm sure this one will thrive for you especially if you have a spot to hang it outside! I have several Hoyas that start budding indoors for me, but I normally hang them outside to decorate my porch. I do have H. pubicalyx 'Red Buttons' ready to bloom in my dining room and am not touching it.... this is the first bloom on it! I think the key to getting blooms indoors is temperature related. If you keep the AC on 68o and have a cold house I'd say your chances are slimmer than if you keep the temps in the mid 70's.

I'm so scared one of my dogs will go right up to one. Maybe they'll eat any slugs going near my citrus trees. (that would be the only positive thing)

I had recently bought a large established carnosa 'tricolor' only because it is getting ready to bloom. It has at least like 5 peduncles, 1 of which is large and probably going to produce this spring when it warms up again. But i'm worried about it dropping the peduncle. I've had that issue with my multiflora getting pissed and dropping whole peduncles after a move outside. So far the tricolor seems to be unsure what it wants to do with the barely developing buds... fingers crossed they stick around!

Umbela Hoya dasyantha con mas de 80 flores Que puedo decir hoy: Dos noticias: Una buena y otra mala. Comenzaré por la mala. Varios pedúnculos, aunque muy pocos, de hoya fungii, krimson queen, pubicalyx y australis han abortado la floración. Algunos de ellos no llegaron a abrirse como le ha pasado al segundo pedúnculo de una de mis hoyas ¿fungii? que estaba mostrando 70 pimpollos, con un color rojizo no propio de un pedúnculo; su color debe ser entre beige y marrón claro. Lo dicho, ha abortado la floración y todos los pimpollos se han caído. Lo mismo le ha pasado a otra fungii y a una australis. Os muestro fotos. Otros han intentado florecer, pero parte de la umbela se ha secado. Así le ha pasado a una hoya krimson queen. También me ha ocurrido que umbelas de flores completamente abiertas se han marchitado muy pronto y el mismo día como así me ha ocurrido con tres de las 4 umbelas abiertas de una de mis pubicalyx silver pink. En teoría tenía que mostrarme 14 pompones.. Todo este mal rato, quizás porque hemos tenido 4 días seguidos de terral en Málaga, algunos de ellos llegando a alcanzar los 40ºC hasta el extremo de que algunas incipientes hojas se han tornado de forma cóncava. Un ejemplo lo podemos ver en estas hojas de hoya fungii. Todo ello se compensa con la enorme alegría que me da mí “especial” hoya dasyantha que ya ha abierto completamente todas sus flores; pueden verse con sus pétalos con el centro rojo y los sépalos de color blanco. Pero no se si llegará a hacerse completamente blanca o seguirá manteniendo su color rosado hasta que se marchiten sus flores pues sus sépalos no se dejan unos a otros de abrirse completamente. Tengo que mostrar las fotos de sus primera floración el día 6 de junio (aparecen las fechas en las mismas fotos) y son de color blanco. Hablaré de sus hojas: No son tan largas como las de la hoya pubicalyx silver pink ni tan cortas como la de la carnosa pero sí el doble de anchas y por supuesto más estrechas que las hojas de la fungii. El envés de la hoja es ligeramente parecido a la piel de melocotón. Son hojas muy parecidas a la calycina stargazer. El pompón formado es tan exageradamente grande que los sépalos no pueden llegar a desplegarse al completo por falta de espacio. Esta hoya me ha dado últimamente dos pedúnculos (uno de ellos abortó la floración) dignos de mencionar, más de 80 y 70 pimpollos cada uno de ellos (repito: anteriormente llegó a darme tres umbelas floridas). Además, en vez de flores blancas, en esta ocasión mantienen los sépalos de color rosado. Creo que es un espectáculo difícilmente repetible en otra hoya dasyantha de las mías y dudo esto en hoyas dasyantha de otros amantes a las hoyas. Tu opinión personal: ¿Es merecedora de figurar en el Libro Guinness de los records mundiales? Yo digo: Sí.
