This is a touch of class I have in a lot of sun. It's about 3 years old. It hardly has any blue in it. But it sure is pretty. I have several other touch of class tha vary from deep blue to medium blue. It's definitely one of my favorite hostas.

The plant from Naylor is just more mature.
I have "cautioned heavily" on the support of T.O.C.! In a few more years it will be mostly blue; if not all blue. It "used" to be my favorite, that was judged out of 1,200 or so hosta.
Swomgardens, that is a beautiful plant. However, I really question it being T.O.C. I don't mean to discredit your hosta knowledge. It is missing the tri-colored leaves and a feathered leaf pattern where the colors meet.
If anything, I "might" lean towards 'Olympic Sunrise', hard to say w/o evaluating for an entire season.
Perhaps, you have a "sport" of something.

The verdict is still out on "chemically induced" tetraploid's.

off topic: I noticed you Star of Bethleham spring bulbs. I have then too but all they do is send up green leaves and hardly ever bloom. What's your secret? Are mine planted too deep? They are also a favorite of the numerous rabbits we have in the spring so that could be another problem.

I have a Star of Bethleham in my backyard and noticed it blooming for the first time on a vacation day. I mentioned it just started blooming to my boyfriend (who was home all the time during the day) and he said it had been blooming for a long time. I then realized that it bloomed all day but the flowers were closed by the time I normally get home from work at 4:30pm.
Maybe that's why you never see yours bloom? I am not sure of your schedule but that's what your comment reminded me of.

Well, not good news...I won't be happy if TOC goes all blue. I have enough blue hostas.

Connie, the Star of Bethlehem bulbs weren't in the lawn when we first moved here. They were brought and planted by squirrels. They dig up and move everything, so I assume they stole them from a neighbor. I understand they are considered a noxious pest (both the squirrels and the Stars of B.)
I dig clumps out of the lawn and move them into my hosta gardens. They are ideal hosta companions. The leaves are narrow and dry up rather quickly, unlike all of the other bulbs in my gardens. They bloom when the hostas are leafing out, and looking their best.

Like hippieindenial says, the flowers only open when it is sunny. I try to take pictures when the sun goes behind a cloud and the light isn't so harsh. Can be tricky.

Mine are all planted pretty shallow. I just copied the way the squirrels did it. But for the fisrt few years, I only saw the leaves. Then they exploded with blooms. It is impossible to transplant them without leaving behind some of the tiny bulblets. In a year or two, they're baaaaack! Great if you love them (I do), but horrible if you don't like them in the lawn (my husband). I won't let him mow until they are mostly done blooming, which makes him crazy.

Rabbits mow them and deer too. Once the deer net goes up, problem solved. They don't seem to mind if the leaves get nibbled. They bloom just fine.
Bad new is some voles have finally found my island gardens, and decimated many large patches of bulbs last year. Just like Bugs Bunny stealing carrots...poof, everything disappears almost before your eyes.
