Question about online sources?

Wondering if anyone has ordered from Rockhaven? Nothing online on that place with ratings. I sent an e-mail with some questions and am waiting to hear back. I checked out Northcountry, some beauties I would love to get but the web site says no shipping after June 15th. What's a girl to do when looking for northern daylilies?

I always thought there would be ample sources for buying daylilies online in USA.Did you check with smokey's or you can try ebay.I bought around 500 daylilies from sources in USA and they were quite cheap but they are sold out for the year.

I would wait until spring then order. Daylilies do better with spring planting in my zone 4 garden. Some MN gardeners recommend not planting after Labor Day so plants can get established before winter.

Thanks - a couple of issues though with adding more organic matter/compost - first, the areas that I am referring to compromise two large areas of our property - the first, the lawn, which is very large - about 9000 sq feet in total. In the past, I've tried to find a way to spread compost over that large of an area and it's just not going to happen, lol. The other area is not as big and I could easily add compost for nutrients, but I don't think the organic matter is a problem - it's almost 17% here! Which I think is really high! And the lawn itself has 7% OM which I think is also good. I wonder if compost tea would be a good alternative? Adding microbes and nutrients without the weight (or necessity) of adding compost for organic matter? Does anyone use guano to raise their phosphorus levels? I wonder if that would be a quicker way to correct the imbalance and then I could maintain it with compost tea?

Shipping is easy when used correctly and the average reseller (especially ebay types) do not understand shipping. I will ship this coming week USPS two day service without problems. Only the most remote areas have ever taken three days. In the last two years I have not had a single customer complain of an orchid damged by cold and I ship fully open Cattleya flowers all winter long. I warranty the flowers and buds and have not had one claim for credit for blasted buds. Customers only need to email they had flower damage to get the credit no proof is necessary. It is easy to make slight errors in addresses that will delay delivery. When you use the USPS on line mail system this does not happen as they edit the addresses against valid addresses. Heat packs though are a waste of your money. They only last 4-8 hours and then then are done. With two day shipment most of the time you do not have a heat pack even if you paid for it. If the heat pack is removed from the plastic liner completely the heat may only last a couple of hours. For longest effect the pack should be left in the plastic liner with only the end ripped open. I have shipped orchids and before that live fish for thirty years. I have used thousands of heat packs and the use was mostly to reassure customers since they really did not do much. They had minimal value when shipping air freight and had delivery in 4-6 hours. As I said longer times and the heat pack is dead anyway. It is not a matter of cost since the high quality heat packs I buy commmercially only cost 0.60. They really do not do anything but make you feel better.

Hello, This is my first time posting and I'm very excited! I was wondering if anyone out there could help me. I'm interested in taking an online course to enhance my quilting skills. The two sites I'm looking at are the Opus school, in England, and the Design Matters Online Courses. Both sites use England's City & Guild standards and structure as their base. question about the online virtual paint programs

Same thing happened to me at SW online. Over time I'm purchased 3 different paint software programs (BM, Lowes & PPG), so I could import photos of my own rooms. The downside to virtual paint software is that none are accurate to the real life swatch. Individual computer monitors and computer graphics cards are factors that contribute to the difference. On the positive side, the virtual programs are a blessing in that they can guide us to colors, shades, undertones that will work and show us clearly what won't work, then we can go and get real life swatches in those colors, narrow it down and get sample pots (or a quart if necessary), paint them on poster board and get to a color we're happy with, rather than taking a shot in the dark and risking a do-over ;)

Valley of the Daylilies has a large flower list and they are located in Ohio. The prices range from cheap to high.
Maryotts will also tell you if he knows if a plant won't do well in the north if you ask him.
Also if you look up the American Hemerocallis Society, they have an area where you can look up regional display gardens. You may find that you have some a short drive away. Many of these sell flowers on the side as well.

I am not sure we are thinking the same website but if your referring to NORTH COUNTRY DAYLILIES which is Melanie Mason's in New York State, then I didn't notice any post on her webstie that they don't ship after June 15th. Below is the link I have for Melanie's site. Where did you see it on her site...if we are on the same page?

Thanks for all the responses. Yes, I can find lots of sources and I know Maryotts would answer my questions, but for fall planting I want daylilies that have been growing in a northern climate and will be ready to head into dormancy at the proper time.I'm not worried about planting into early Sept., just need to find a source that is still shipping. Julia, yes we're talking about the same place and on the shipping info page it says no shipping after June 15th. Guess I'll just have to e-mail her and ask. Will check out Charlotte's Garden. Thanks to everyone for their responses.

Have not ordered from Rockhaven, but I know who the seller is. Order with confidence. The issue with online ratings is that many small but excellent, excellent sellers have no ratings at all.

Another option for you is to scan the list of sellers in your AHS region. Go to the AHS web site, then to the region. There should be a link to sellers there.
