Just ordered - how did I do?

They won't ship out till Sept. which is fine because I DON'T HAVE ANY ROOM FOR THEM! Yikes! But, I just ordered from Aren't I Pretty the following:

WHITE CRINOLINE

SWEET SUGAR CANDY

TANGERINE HORSES

CUBAN NANCY

CATHERINE FOLKER

PALLADIAN PINK

SEMINOLE WIND

SOFT SUMMER NIGHT

and for bonuses:

ARCADIAN PLANTATION and PINK DEBUTANTE

(they were out of some that I wanted, like Beautiful Edgings, Molino Pink Loveliness, and Neal Berrey)

So, your thoughts on the above DLs please!

SWEET SUGAR CANDY has not grown excessively well for me. In fact it's leaving first chance I get....
TANGERINE HORSES- Lovely bloom and strong grower
CUBAN NANCY- Lovely bloom but finicky grower. Doesn't increase fast for me at all.
PALLADIAN PINK- Nice bloom, reasonable grower
SEMINOLE WIND- Good strong grower. Big, showy flower, nice color.

Don't have the others.

Better get going on digging that new daylily bed. Sorry, I don't have any on your list so can't give any advice.

I can't believe this thread is still going, I posted this in January. January is our time to plant roses so that is why I do not order in the fall. We plant in January and prune in January, there is no harm in planting in the fall but it has to be late, late fall, it does not cool down here until the end of October. Anyway an update on the above Heirloom roses I ordered. I went ahead and planted all of them in containers. It is very hot here right now 110F, I have to water them everyday. My Heirloom roses are doing fine. In March I went ahead and planted 2 of them in my big rose bed, Brandy and Royal Highness they had grown quite well in the containers so I thought they would do ok in the rose bed and they are doing fine. The others I left in the containers. I did have one problem which was a bummer I lost Champagne, gosh is was a pretty rose. I did call Heirloom and they told me they would replace it this fall so that made me happy. I can plant it into the ground when it gets here because I am sure it will be around November by the time it gets here and our weather will be just perfect. In the temps that we have here in the Arizona desert I am lucky I only lost one. I never have lost a bareroot rose one I purchased in a container that is planted in January because of the heat, but these little babies have to be watched closely in my climate. Carrie

The sets may grow just fine even if planted now. For the garlic, all you can do is wait and see which ones will have stiff stalks vs. flexable stalks when they start to blossom. Usually soft necks don't grow well here in Z 6, as I lost all of mine last year. This past fall, I planted all hard neck types instead, and right now they all look good. I also have walking onions nearby which I replant every year. You can side dress the plants now with a good fertilizer specific for onions. Dixondale has a decent fertilizer for just such things. Then fertilize again in about mid to the end of June. The garlic should have its blossom stem cut off so that it doesn't flower. Then dig them up once the greens start to die out slightly.

I can't wait to find out tomorrow am. I think the only reason I'm not too concerned is the guy told me I could use it for 90 days and then bring it back for any reason. I said what if I don't have a reason and he said I will give you your $$$ back no ?'s asked and no restocking fee or anything. I guess the seriel number will tell us a lot more. I have tile floors. :) It has 9 cycles...isn't that alot? I would not return it because of energy, sorry being honest. I got it for $600 and I know it was a high end model but I also need it to not break in a year. Although, I do have a full warranty that is good for 5 years on some things and 10 years on other things. I would just like more info on it...you know?? I'm so curious I wish I could call today. My husband said for $600 he figures it's better than the $600 models of other brands out there and for that price even if it does break in 5 years we can buy another one. It just seemed like too good of a deal to pass up but then again usually those are the ones you should pass up. ;0 hee hee We just ran it and it was sooooo quiet!! It doesn't even have a door panel on it yet and I could hardly hear it. I love it already is the problem. :) My sister in law has a 9 year old one and it is running like new still. I hope tomorrow brings good news. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I will post tomorrow am after I get some more details. Thanks for your help.

I forgot to mention that I was purposely picking delicate colors because I have a bunch of vibrant colors already. I also wanted later blooming ones. That's disappointing to hear about Sweet Sugar Candy. That's the one I wasn't sure about. I'm sure I could call them and swap it for another since they are shipping out till next month. Thanks!

I just called and removed Sweet Sugar Candy and added instead

Tanya, it looks like you and I have gone daylily nuts at about the same time... haha.. :) Maybe in a couple of years when our purchases increase we can trade and double up!

I just called and took off Cuban Nancy and added Rainbow Radiance instead.

Thank goodness they are very amiable over there! :)

I've been tempted by Tangerine Horses myself. Hope you will let us know how it does for you next year. I grew Seminole Wind. It had trouble opening its blooms the first year but when a few finally did open towards the end they were a pretty and unusual color. I had mine in a pot waiting to see if I liked it enough to plant it the next year (that's how I evaluate). Unfortunately Seminole Wind did not make it until next spring because of crown rot. I didn't buy it again. I've heard others say it does fine for them, but for me there are just too many daylilies out there to fool around with one that had so many problems its first year.
