rooting cuttings

I've found over time that with some plants the cuttings root easily & with others I have no luck at all. with Russian sage I can take a branch ( without cutting it ) & lay it on the ground & bury it & it will root. I have a greek oregano I'd like to make cuttings from. do you think burying a branch might work?
