Glad to know you'll get your Phals, WC8. I can sympathize - I'm leaving for France in a few weeks and don't want to leave new plants at home with my non-orchid growing plant sitter. So I won't get my sanderianum crosses until the end of April. Ditto for a division I've been drooling over for almost a year now which is finally available. And Calvin, it's all about supply and demand. HUGE US market, small Canadian market. The Canadian growers make more of an effort to be able to export than the US growers do. A friend and I ordered from Andy's this past summer, got our import and CITES certificates ourselves, picked up the plants in Watertown (I think) at a shipping depot type of place, barerooted them (a pain in the you know where since they're all mounted with tons of roots), had them inspected ourselves in Syracuse for the phyto and then brought them back across the border, completely legally and without confiscations. The cost of all certificates/inspections was probably around $150. We did have to order enough plants to make that and the effort worth it. Or that's our rationalization at least. Pug I would keep it sealed. If you saw how steamy my Hoya rooting tank is you would faint but still 100% success rate. LOL I have my Hoya imbricata and Hoya hyplosia rooting in a plastic storage container similar to yours that has a piece of plexiglass as a top and I am concerned that there is not enough humidity so I mist the cuttings every day. I would much rather have them in the heated and very humid aquarium/rooting chamber but it is completely full right now. As long as you have enough light then the cuttings can take the humidity but if it gloomy and wet in there you can run into problems. The David Liddle order for Eastern Canada was shipped today so I will have eight more Hoyas hopefully by the end of the week or early next week. I don't quite know where I will be rooting those cuttings but I am excited none the less. I think I need a greenhouse. Mike

When we did our kitchen remodel 4 years ago we bought a Fisher Paykel double oven from Gauchenaur's in Pennsylvania and saved "THOUSANDS. I called FP to inquire about the warranty and they assured me that warranty was covered anywhere in the world. So I bought it and had it shipped to Lloyd's Electronics in Lynden Wa.(we live in Langley so its convenient and have used this depot for many items over the years) As it turned out we did have trouble with the ovens and they had to be replaced but had no trouble at all with the warranty aspect of it. If you wanted more info on the shipping/border etc. just ask. My daughter bought her FP dishdrawer and farm sink the same way but has not required warranty on either. Fred Mc.

I've ordered from Palatine, they don't carry David Austin roses. Hortico has a small selection. Botanus sells some David Austin, however, they are not grafted on rosa multiflora, which Pickering nursery did, so does Palatine. Botanus roses would not do well in interior of Canada. Too cold. Even ordering directly from U.S. is not a good idea, roses wouldn't survive Ontario's winters. There's a grower in Texas who's growing much of Austin roses. It's alright for Texas or California or some other parts of U.S. with mild climate. I had some roses from Pickering nursery over the years and they've done well. Lost a few 2 years ago because of the awful winter we had. Last year I lost Mutabilis Chinensis, which survived for 20 years. I enjoyed having this plant and now don't know if there is anyone who carries it.
