Comments (29)ill have to look for some rooting hormone cause unless its an accident of a leaf falling out and landing in the same pot with its mother (which to my surprise when picking up the leave) started to sprout a baby! - but when trying from fresh leaves in there own soil after a few days (i've even tried just putting them into the dirt without waiting) i've had absolutely no luck just a bunch of shriveled leaves :( ... some of my plants I have saved from being mistreated at small stores where they are never watered and all ripped apart and stretching for sun I've specifically bought and brought home so when they are nursed back to health I can try prop-ing with but have had no luck and now some of my plants are looking a little skanky with not many leaves on them, and I'm super worried to start pulling more until they kinda recover... but its not too attractive to have leaveless plants with long stems left sitting on the windowsill lol! but what can I say - I seem to have more luck by accident then by actually trying!...See MorePurple Maple turned green
Comments (3)a variety of factors could cause color changes. how much sun does it get, and from which direction is your plant compared to your aunt's? you said you gave it tree fert spikes and its in a pot, could be too much fert. did your aunt fert her plant? any significant size differences between your plant and your aunt's? did any part of your plant die and turn brown? if so, it might be what mjsee suggests. are the leaves the same as when you first bought the plant? JM's have a wide variety of leaf patterns, such as thick/thin, 5 or more lobes, etc. i have an Emperor1, it leafs out purple in the spring, turns green in the summer, turns almost black in late summer then slightly red in the fall....See MoreJapanese Trifele leaf bottom turning purple
Comments (1)Your plants are nutrient deficient. Spray generously w/ fish emulsion (for a quick fix) and then side dress with a good fertilizer like TomatoTone. Good luck!...See MorePropagation: the leaf is turning black/purple
Comments (3)This also happens with many of mine. Nothing to worry about since the new plant likely has its own roots at this point. I've noticed that leaf propagation can have many outcomes. I've had plants form and lose the mother leaf without roots only to grow some weeks later. I've had roots grow with the leaf not producing a plant but the leaf staying alive for months (still no plant yet actually). I've had leaves make multiple plants. I've had leaves grow a new plant and had the mother leaf never die and I've also seen the leave just die without doing anything. Here's a current photo of my propagation tray with plants from about 6 months old to newer. Anything that is knocked off a plant I just throw in here. There are currently about 50 plants...See MoreKellianne
