Some photos from today...mostly!

I will start with a FFO on Prince of Midnight taken a few days ago and everything else was from today.

Twins of My Sweet Rose

These next two were taken between 8:30-9pm, and the flowers still looked pretty good on these unknowns that I have. I never got out to the back bed today until late in the day to see these guys blooming their pretty heads off, and the sun was setting and being next to the artemesia in the background, I thought it made for a pretty picture....all the while getting eaten alive by mosquitoes.

And the full view of the bed the phlox and the pink lilies are in...still a work in progress. Was filled last year until this past winter when it flooded and water stayed in this bed for two months, but what did survive grew huge! This was taken about a week ago.

I like those beds, they are very pretty. I like to see full garden shots to see how people have their daylilies in the landscape. Your pink unknowns do look exceptional against the silver folliage in the backround. Prehaps just a minor flaw in the bed is that it could be bigger so there would be more daylilies :-))

THANK YOU twixanddud, Nat, Nancy and Debra! Twixanddud, you will like Creepy Crawler. The blooms are big and bright and I just love that edge it has. Nat, it is strange how Lavender HT does so well for me here when I have heard from you and others that it isn't that great for them. I got mine from BlueRidge and it hit the ground running. Stellar performance year after year. And yes, mine is tall. Nancy, I love Winning Note too and I am surprised at how many blooms it pumps out each year. Got it from Maryott's. Debra, I figured you would love the bright pink of Desperate Housewives....and of course, Zeus! Celeste

Marie.. There was and is help from hundreds of volunteer firefighters,from 40 different agencies, if that is what you mean. Yesterday evening the Nation Guard was called out. That cannot be done till the County Commissioners request it from the Govenor then she has to approve it. But she can declare the situtation a state of emergency then the Adjutant general gives the orders to call out the National Guard. This information is according to my husband, was the protocal when he was Hazmat Chief and the Black Hawks flew him over the areas on fire. They do have areas set up for donations of water, gatorade, snacks, food, clothing, household goods etc for anyone that needs it. This is just in Mannford that I am aware of but I would imagine there are more in other areas, like Moni took Haskell to. Yesterday earlier in the day they were begging people for Gatorade for the firefighters. Fortunately no deaths have been reported and one one firefighters was treated for heat exhaustion, that was the latest I heard anyway.

What a great way to spend a rainy day Jo. Your garden is looking lush and lovely! Trifecta, Dark Shadows and Jujen are getting a lot of deserved attention but they all look fabulous. Great shots of minis and monsters alike. My London Fog was hit by the late frost and has some damaged leaves. It is quite likely that is why yours seems more fragile this year(?) I have always thought it a great performer considering the percentage of white in the leaves. Your non-hostas are happy looking too. lol! Rodgersia is a favorite of mine. Very smart and nice of you to donate some hostas to your neighbors. Community beautification - love it. Thank you for the tour, the rain did not stop here until noon today.

Nothing wrong with a "common" variegation. IMHO this type of variegation actually produces the most dramatic well grown plants. If you guys are interested - how this plant will score - being a judge - I can tell - this plant will lose points on amount of bloom. Doesn't have enough blossom count for full points. It has 2 gaps on 5.30 and 8, but they are not too bad, probably minus 3 on symmetry. Condition problem - one tired blossom at 10. Otherwise - clean healthy vigorous plant. May be judges will find some dust.. can be minus 1 or minus 2. Now - quantity of bloom - 25 points. The plant has 9 blossoms, in average standard has 20-25, these are large blossoms, the plant is not that huge, probably 12-15 would be OK. probably minus 5 on blossom count . No problem with the size and color of blossoms. It is a plant that will score 90-93 out of 100 depending on the judges.

Thank you Rita and Jean. Ya, the bed could be bigger, it was built by the previous owners, but I can always expand it! LOL! This bed started out with two dogwood trees, two burning bushes and a few asiatic lilies and some geranium, that was pretty much it. I dug the trees and shrubs out and put in the flowers, since it is a flower bed, not a tree and shrub bed!
