Hi - I like its potential, but have a couple of things to throw out - I don't know who told you to water little bits often, but it's a mistake because the roots never get any water, or at least not enough, but the top parts stay soggy, which is not good for newer higher-up roots... so do water less often, but well (til it comes out the bottom a bit). Secondly, it's hard to say what it is because you have many plants/trees there that we don't have up here, so it could be a honeysuckle, but also who knows what, and you could bring it to a local nursery for help with an ID as without one, it'll be hard to do the right thing by it! As with any tree or plant that normally grows naturally outdoors in your climate (vs another very different one), you must leave it outdoors to experience all its requisite seasons properly - are you in e.g. N. Queensland where it's almost always very hot, or in the south, where it can get cold and wet? Now what you have to do is choose individual branches to keep and to prune away - but as it's a deciduous (leafy) tree rather than an evergreen (pine, etc), prune in spring and not autumn, which of course is right now where you are (spring, I mean :-). Don't just hack away at things, but do it for reasons of style (to at least some extent in accordance with bonsai tradition (rules) until such time as you know so much about them that breaking the rules becomes a conscious thought out design decision that makes sense on its own... and that probably won't be for years I guess... which is why rules help, to understand why you cut this branch and not the other... blah blah! I'll leave it to you to research why (not just for artistic angles, but to encourage (or otherwise) new buds to grow where you want them. You need to have some idea in mind of what you want the future tree to look like (years from now) before just cutting branches off that you might want after all. But it's also important to consider those which grow directly opposite each other on the trunk (not necessarily desirable), or cross each other in X directions, etc... start reading up on all that and then cut only when you're very sure about it. Get back at some time (whenever) with new pix and Q's if you have any. But find out what it is before anything else, if only so you get a better handle on how often to water (or not, if it's living outdoors and nature is doing the job).

No, you don't have to keep your plant outside, Hailey. Lots of people keep jades inside in apartments year round. Have you a nice, bright window? All windows except a north-facing window will be grand, just make sure there is lots of light coming in. You probably know not to overwater, just give water when the compost is dry which you can test with a finger or a lollipop stick. There are all sorts of soil mixes which will be fine, but since this is new to you, I would get some cactus or succulent compost ( ask in your local plant shop), buy some grit, and mix it well into the bought soil, half and half would be fine, then pot up your plant having followed the steps you described above. Don't place it in too big a pot until it is really thriving and growing, jades quite like smaller pots from my experience. I wish you lots of joy with your plant and the many which will follow if you get hooked on jades or other succulents. :)

Ah, pretty flower but I wouldn't want it in my Monkey grass either. Depending on how much you have, you might try making a cardboard circle with a slit to go around the weed. Then paint on the Round Up. Use the one that dries in 30 minutes and then move the circle to the next one. If you're careful, you won't get it on the monkey grass. If the weed is where you can pull it out and weight down, that would also work.

Agree with what daxeek said... It is definitely etiolated. That color - from reddish to darker, almost brown - is desired by many. It happens in strong light. Acclimatizing any succulent to full sun is important for any plant, to avoid sunburn. Which is different from suntan :) Just MO, but it is overpotted - pot too large for plant. But you could leave it in it, since this plant should grow fast and will fill up that pot eventually. In the meantime, it is important to make sure it doesn't sit in soil that is wet for too long. Big pot = lots of soil/mix = takes longer to dry up. Easiest way to find out how dry it is would be using bamboo skewer (or chopstick, thin dowel or even pencil). That way you can insert it deep inside - more important to know how wet or dry it is deep in the pt. Top will dry up fast, but roots are deeper and will rot if in wet medium for long times. IF MY plant, I would cut it quite a bit. Something like this (just a suggestion): yellow line is where I would be trimming off long branches and leaving rest (with roots) in the pot; these should continue growing. Blue line suggest trimming long cuttings, they are just too long. But you could cut them into few pieces: Etiolated parts will stay as long as they are, so your plant will not look as neat as it could. That's why you need to trim/behead it. Any cuttings can be stuck in dry medium, and they will root fast and easy. Mine are still outside, and will be until it gets consistently cold overnight. Hoping for few weeks...In the meantime, they are exposed to any rain we get, and none is suffering. Crenda grows many outside (great weather in Fla!), bring them indoors for winter. But you have to assure good light, otherwise it will keep growing same.
