Comments (72)Naptha? Isn't that kerosene? Yuck! Oh, right. Aldehydes. I guess that goes. Some O-Chem hydrocarbon petroleum thing. (shudder) I use 7th Generation Free & Clear. It doesn't smell like much of anything. And glycerine handsoaps with flower scents (rose or cucumber). (Method green tea + aloe pump is foul (much too much tea) but the color looks good with my powder room sink top and the guests don't seem to mind.) MaryS, thanks for bringing up the cumin thing! It's fine in a complex curry, but it tastes like dirt to me on it's own, and I can't eat samosas, and things like that, that are heavy on cumin. Or taco meat without the rest of the taco (tomatoes help). On the other hand, I love turmeric. It's been decades since I did this, if I had a soup that just wouldn't come together, I'd dump some turmeric into it. I called it my yummifing agent. Which probably makes up for the cumin in the curry. :) Hey! Speaking of tea, I wonder if this all that we're talking about is also why some people think green tea ice cream is a good idea? I don't even like the smell on my hands from the soap, and think green tea ice cream is an insult to Flossie. Though back when I did caffeine, I didn't mind drinking green tea as tea....See Moreconfused about HVAC
Comments (3)Hi, Juniperg92, 1. A single-stage furnace has two operating modes: off and on. A two-stage furnace has three operating modes: off, low, and high. There are also modulating gas furnaces which have variable speed blowers and modulating gas valves. Modulating furnaces adjust to the required heating load in smaller increments. Two-stage and modulating-type furnaces enhance occupant comfort, and when operating at lower capacity, are quieter than single-stage equipment. 2. Furnace manufacturers will typically offer a range of different products with different performance attributes and prices. Trane's higher end furnaces will outperform their more basic units as will other manufacturers. I find HVAC replacement technicians tend to generalize based on their own limited set of repair experiences. If they characterize one particular manufacturer's products as "noisy" I'd suggest you ask to see the data comparing that manufacturer's equipment with others' of similar performance and price. 3. The average life expectancy of a heat pump or air conditioner is around 15 years. Furnaces typically last longer because they are both simpler and exercised less in all but the coldest climate zones. When your air conditioner reaches the end of its useful life expectancy, ask your replacement contractor to help you evaluate whether it makes sense to replace the furnace at the same time based on its condition, remaining life expectancy, and how its operating cost compares with that of a replacement....See MoreConfused about coffee table color and shape
Comments (8)I like none above. Feel too light. Needs a balance -- visual weight, open, closed etc and a bit of Regency flavor if possible. Depends size and budget. : ) The nesting glass top rounds? Cheapest, and on Amazon, and certainly could work But your whole look of sofa and chairs doesn't really dictate so obviously mid cen .....as Noguchi Kathy Kuo Home on this one : )...See MoreConfused about this smell in house
Comments (14)It could be occasional venting from a gas/propane regulator making it hard to determine where it is coming from. A gas check will not find that either because it is part of a working system. Do you have a water softener system? Sometimes you get that smell when the brine solution runs low?...See Moremelissa_p
