Hi to all, many of my daylilies have come from a nearby garden. I can recommend 2 southern gardens that I have ordered from. Wynn's Daylily Garden in Jasper, FL. Gene Wynn is a very nice fellow to buy from. The fans are always big and healthy. They send extra sometimes and always nice bonus plants. They grow many Munsons. All their plants are very reasonably priced. I have ordered fall and spring shipments from them for 3 years with no problems at all. I am very pleased to recommend them. Flynn's in Alabama is now Bama Daylilies. Ida Flynn is a very nice lady. I ordered from her last year and was very pleased with the healthy plants that she went me. They have many Munsons also. Both of these gardens are listed at Charlotte's Daylily Diary. I have had some very disappointing shipments from some sellers at the Lily Exchange. But, many great sellers there also. When tiny fans have come in shipments or complications in a transaction at the auction, I do not bid with that seller again. This is a good topic. Your opinions have helped me decide to order from 2 gardens that I had thought to before, but was hesitate to do so. Take care and stay warm!! Arlene

Cathyflam, you must have a big yard! I would love to see your garden in full bloom. I have purchased old roses from Habershams in midtown. When you purchase at a nursery you can get a decent size bush without having to pay the shipping. Some people make pilgrimages in vans to Roses Unlimited in South Carolina. Supposed to be one of the best around here, though I've never bought anything there. I have purchased from Antique Rose Emporium, I think I got Maggie (fabulous!) and Cramoisie Superieur -- you couldn't ask for a more floriferous healthy rose. I've purchased in a dirt-cheap sale from Wayside several roses and they did fine for the most part. Jackson & Perkins seems to be mostly hybrid teas. They require LOTS of care and amendments (and most are probably very chemical-dependent) to look like they do in the pictures. Rose

Mercedes, thanks for the tip. My THD doesn't have it. They sell a similar pink, but the flower is a little lighter pink and it has a very dark pink eye. The Lipstick is the same pink from center (eye) to tips of petals. I sent an email to Charlie at Hidden Valley Hibiscus to see if they carried it but I never received a reply. I'm sure I will find it eventually. Growers of all kinds of plants follow these forums and watch for hot plants and what folks want. That's how adeniums, brugs, aroids and plumeria found there way into so many of the big box stores. Thanks again for the help - maybe my THD (did you know it is "The Home Depot"? I've been doing research and found out that Silver Memories as well as Purple Pashima are not rooters. So I grafted them, but I still have some of each of those I'll still try to root just because I'm stubborn and they callused. Moorea Timera Beauty isn't showing any callus at all so I grafted some of it too. Take some weeks to see if the grafts take. Whatever of these that don't do well, I won't worry about it. I'll have hibiscus to practice with and meanwhile, I'm working on rooting a bunch more Pride of Hankins cuttings to provide ample root stock later. Seeds are the most fun, and trading cuttings or seeds with each other when the weather is better.
