Need help w/sandy soil erosion in front yard

My front yard slopes about 4 feet down to the road and since the sprinklers don't hit out there the grass died back hard during this years drought. Now with all the heavy rains, it's washing away fast into the road. I planted 4 tall cordgrass and 2 small muhly grass and some coreopsis already but I need another idea. I really wanted drought tolerant plants because I don't want to water all the way out there. What should or what can I do to help the problem immediately? Pine straw, mulch (I think it will wash away too but I did mulch a small section where the flowers are), grass seed?, should I spend a small fortune and plant mass plantings of taller grasses? Help! I'm afraid my yard is going to disappear!
