No; you misunderstand. I did read it after all. I believe, too, that there is a place for low-P foods, of course. All I was saying originally is that basically there are three foods that should really suit all plants, without going overboard and buying one for each plant in the house. My horticulture teacher was saying that nurserymen (and he is one) would love to sell you as much as they can, if they can! Nothing wrong at all with experimenting with different ones if you want to. I was just trying to be helpful to you. I only get feisty if someone picks on me. Then I will defend myself. I don't ever start trouble, because basically I don't like it. But I won't back down from it, because there is no reeason to have to deal with it in the first place! No one has the right to do that to others, and I would rather get on with people than not. People who do make judgments about others without ever having met them, or not knowing them; are just ridiculous!It is like people who hate others for race or religion. It has nothing to do with them; so why cause problems! Actually, I hope your little experiment works and you get the blooms you want. Then you can share the details with us!

Hibiscus is one of the very few plants I treat different than others in containers. I use 3:1:2 ratio fertilizer (like 24-8-16, 12-4-8, or 9-3-6) on almost all my containerized plants. Well, actually, I use it on hibs too, but with a twist. Hibiscus is not overly fond of P(hosphorous), but it does like K (potassium). It likes a fertilizer low in P but higher in K than most plants, so something that supplies at least as much K as N - a fertilizer with a 3:1:3 or even a 3:1:4 RATIO. Since you should have on hand a 3:1:2 ratio fertilizer for almost all your container gardening needs anyway, it's quite easy to turn your 3:1:2 ratio fertilizer into a 3:1:3 ratio by adding a little potash or Dyna-Gro's Pro-TeKt 0-0-3 (better choice because it has silicon in it) to your fertilizer solution when you fertilize. It's best to avoid 1:1:1 ratio fertilizers like 20-20-20 or 14-14-14 because they supply much too much P in relation to N or K; and it's important to avoid all bloom-booster fertilizers and fertilizers with a middle number as high as or higher than either the first or third numbers (N or K). In the end, you can use any 3:1:2 ratio fertilizer (I like Foliage-Pro 9-3-6 best) right from the package with good results, but adding a little extra K to that strategy would be an improvement and please the plant. You would need: Miracle-Gro 24-8-16 (granular soluble) or MG 12-4-8 (liquid) or Dyna-Gro's Foliage-Pro 9-3-6 Plus, if using any of the above, you can improve results by including a small amount of potash or Dyna-Gro's Pro-TeKt 0-0-3 in the fertilizer solution whenever you fertilize. Hi, I am looking for recommendations and/or recipes for organic fertilizers for hibiscus that can be used on the potted plants. Thank you for your help.

Just use Miracle Grow fertilizer for them. Regular Miracle Grow. I buy the granular form in the square box at Walmart. They love it, and spray it on it's leaves. No epson salts. If the salts build up in your container, water a little bit, then about 10 minutes later, water alot more til the water comes out of the bottom of the pot. That will wash the salts out of the soil that will gradually build up. Good Luck!
