Lots of nice daylilies in your garden lately. I find the morning and afternoon compairison picture very interesting. I guess I know that some daylilies fade but it really brings it home when its in a picture like that.

My favorites would be SCOTTISH FANTASY and LONGLESSON SHOWOFF. I like the color and pattern on BELLE ISLE LIPSTICK. Does it normally open with the bottom pedal sticking out? Can't figgure out why else you would say that you don't know what to make of it.

oh, nice photos there! I love Francis , I got one as a bonus from a grower on the lily auction this year. My Darla Anita is done for the year after a s-l-o-w and sloppy start I finally ended up with some decent bloom on that one! I am giving it next year yet, some of the crusty ones just are so temperamental. My worst fader is a cross ( Ruffled PantaloonsX Unknown) it opens a bright pink in the AM by Pm it is the color of Catherine Woodbery, a soft baby pink. Pretty. My best for keeping color are 2 dark ones Paradise Princess and Tupac Amur. Kathy

Nice ones! I really like the color of Scottish Fantasy. Francis of Assisi, Sovereign Queen and Orchid Corsage are great performers here. I think Coburg Fright Wig looks pretty in your photo. I've seen other pictures where I didn't like it at all. Maybe it will grow on you.

I got Francis of Assisi this year and am glad I did. The one scape I had was super short, but the blooms were magnificent.

I am glad to see that Wedding Band holds up well, but it's too bad about Sovereign Queen. I got both this year and SQ is beautiful when it's not faded.

Love Francis of Assisi, that is a gorgeous picture of SQ & WB. Lovely color on Scottish Fantasy. Darla Anita bloomed for me for the 1st time this year & has done really well, but yours seems to be a deeper color that I like better.

BELLE ISLE LIPSTICK is an odd one in that for the first several blooms it did have the petal sticking out. Not sure why that was happening. Today, it bloomed the way it should

AUTUMN WOOD - short scapes. Someone else on the forum commented about theirs being short too. This has been in since last summer so I would have thought it would be a bit taller this year.
This is the FFO and the second pic is from today. Notice the colors from bloom on FFO to todays are toned down?

SWEET OLE MAN - gotta love this one. New this spring.The bloom folds back so nicely and each of the flower openings are perfect. The bloom has such a nice smooth look to it.Holds extremely well under full sun conditions and rain.

Like the color on orchid corsage, but then the real wowzer for me was the imperial purple of Shaka Zulu. Tell me that the color holds into the late PM(or not). I love your picture of it.

Well, then at least BELLE ISLE LIPSTICK straightened itself out. I do think that it's a very pretty bloom.

My AUTUMN WOOD is extra short too. At least on the few blooms I had. For some reason it just doesn't want to bloom for me. Such a pretty flower too so it's a shame.

I like your AUTUMN WOOD photos! AUTUMN WOOD is very temperature sensitive. After cooler nights, you get the lighter color blend. After warmer nights, you get less of the blend and more of the melon looking color. My scapes were shorter this year and I had fewer blooms than the past five years. Mine has been hurt by the drought, neighbor's trees stealing its sun, and the fact it needs to be divided. The first three years I had it, AW was one of my Top 10 performers. I'm hoping it will really strut its stuff next year after being divided and moved to full sun.

maryl: The photo of SHAKA ZULU was taken around 1:00pm. I had tried the umbrella method of photo taking to shield the direct sun. My gardens where the daylilies are planted get sun from sunrise to sunset. Next time it blooms I'll try to get a morning and then evening pic for comparison.

Debra: I didn't know that about AW. Learned something today.

Rita: The blooms on BIL are big and very noticeable from a distance.

You have some lovely ones and some lovely pictures of them. I loved Francis and Wedding Band and Sovereign Queen, but your picture of Sweet Old Man. The hybidizer's picture did not appeal to me, but I love yours! Thanks for posting.

Kay: I think the photo Frank has on his website was taken early morning because that is exactly how mine opens. Later in the morning its starts what I call a rollback of the petals and sepals. I'm not sure mine has ever bloomed with such enhanced color as his shows. I'll have to try using an umbrella on the next go round to see if the color will show differently.

You are really tempting me with Shaka Zulu. If you happen to get the AM/late PM pictures you said you might I'd love for you to post them. Tinkers shows a nice clump shot of it, so I gather it's not just a pretty face.

You have a ton blooming -- lots of nice whites and I especially like the oranges. I think SOM is beautiful.

Shaka Zulu, here in Virginia zone 7, also holds its color very, very well. It's my neighbor's "uhhh! ahhh!" flower, whenever she looks over the fence!
