Hibiscus Painted Lady Tree Care

Hi. We purchased a Hibiscus Painted Lady Tree but did not find out until after that it was tropical. We were told to bring it indoors during the winter. We repotted it because the original pot it was growing out of. We keep it in front of a window that gets sunlight starting first thing in the morning and then is gone by midday. We only water about once a week but the leaves are now turning yellow and falling off quite rapidly. Please tell us what else to do in order for this tree to live. It is absolutely gorgeous when it blooms and we do not want to lose it. We were told to keep it outside during the summer. Can anyone help? I keep reading care instructions on plants but can't find any on trees. Thanks..
