Hi Jennifer, I have oodles of seeds I can send you from South Korea. I am a NJ native teaching English in Korea due to the US economy. I have been a member of GW and Dave's for over ten years and have had successful trades with many gardeners in the USA. I have easy seeds for your children - Korean packets of portulaca grandiflora, dahlia, Korean traditional sunflower, chinese lantern seeds, Korean morning glories, all types of chile peppers, celosia, red salvia, impatiens balsaminia, and lots more. I'd be interested in trading for your white texas star hibiscus seeds if possible. Postage to South Korea costs anywhere between $1.67 to $3 depending on the weight and if you choose to use a bubble mailer. I'm fine with you mailing the hibiscus seeds in a plain white letter sized envelope with the seeds wrapped inbetween bubblewrap or napkins. Then the cost will drop to less than $1 to mail a first class letter. LMK if you'd be interested in a trade. I have so many seeds that I do not have room to plant this spring. I would be happy to send you and your children some packets of seed. Most of them will be from commercial sources.

Those who grow Texas Star Hibiscus should have lots of seeds each year as even one bloom about 30 seeds and they sure do start easy. Here I start them anytime of the year and end up with too many seeds each time. I have never had any white Star Hibiscus to produce or someone send the wrong seeds. but I do enjoy the Red blooms. I also enjoy the rose-of-Sharon blooms which are hardier the the Florida-Louisiana-Texas Star Hibiscus. I say that because they are native to Florida and Louisiana but ended up being called Texas Star Hibiscus.

They enjoy moist soil but not standing water as the roots can rot. I am also new in growing Texas Star Hibiscus, but enjoying the blooms. I have two different varieties as one has narrow leaves with they tapered blooms as "kmonceaux" posted and the other has a little broader leaves and a smaller rounded flower pedal but both are red. My white one died so I never got any seeds off as no blooms. It looks like there is starting to be a greater love for this plant despite the legginess of the plant. I am looking forward to having enough to cover my front wall of my flower bed.

They still do not like wet feet but love moist soil. It there any reason you do not have it in the ground? They do like lots of room to grow. All I have are the red ones seems my white one did not make it to adulthood.
