Solar Eclipse

I am likely to replace one or two of my heuchera with this particular heucherella (provided I can find it...I havent yet sourced it here in the GreaterTorontoArea). I am hoping that heucherella thrive in the same aspect as do heuchera. Is this the case?

(Is it just me or others impressed by the photos of "Solar Eclipse"? What other ones do you find as striking?)

Heucherella do just as well for me as heuchera.
Of course our zones are very different.
I just bought SE last week so don't know much about it yet, but it was just so pretty and only $7 so I HAD to get it!

Check out Crooked Creek Garden Centre in Newtonville, ON (in the Durham Region). It is about 5 minutes off highway 401. That's where I bought my Solar Eclipse and also they have other heuchera's and heucherella's.
I would call them first as the Solar Eclipse's just came in.

Good to hear! I have mine in pots still. They'll probably stay there for a while yet until I can find a place for them. The heucherella has a small root system so it'll probably remain in the pot until the end of summer when it can have the chance to grow more roots and I can keep a better eye on it. Once plants are in the ground they are mostly on their own. Here are my new heuchies. The back five and the one in the front left came from In The Country, they are (left to right): Heucherella Honey Rose, heucheras Sugar Berry, Sweet Tart, Glitter, Blondie, and Peppermint. The dark one, Blackout, came from Santa Rosa Gardens. The last one is my poor little Southern Comfort I nearly lost that I've been rooting. All there was left of it this spring were two small pieces of crown and no roots. Both were doing okay but then suddenly the tinier crown got eaten or something and I think it's a goner, but the bigger piece is slowly growing. Karen

Iris, I don't know any information about butterflies and solar eclipses, but I imagine they'll go rest, maybe hang upside down in the trees, as if it were night. I'll be in Charleston for the eclipse! My sister lives there, so, instead of visiting my daughter in Florida first, I'll be visiting my sister and brother-in-law first. I'll be taking my 90-year old mother and 3 dogs - I'm brave! Seeing a solar eclipse is on my bucket list, so I'm excited about it. We'll also visit the plantations and historic homes. My sister already bought 4 pairs of eclipse glasses - some smart person has found a way to profit off it! Sherry

I rarely get up at 4:30, and it was kind of fun walking around while the city was mostly asleep. We live near the East River and went there to watch. There were about a dozen other people. It was friendly and kind of like an impromptu party. One guy had a huge telescope that he hauled on a wheeled cart over a mile to get there. He let us all look through it, an we could see a little bit, but the clouds blocked most of it. Another woman drew little chalk pictures of it and gave one to us. So not much eclipse to see, but it was beautiful watching the sun rise and reflect off the glass buildings across the river, and seeing all of the colors in the clouds.

Thanks for that information Vanessa but I was able to pick up a SE and a Delta Dawn at Humber Nurseries in Brampton this past week.

(Anyone have DD in their garden? What are you impressions?)

Rouge, here are a trio of Delta Dawn I bought about 3 weeks ago in a pot awaiting a spot in the bed. I really like that unlike many yellows that are lighter and yellower in the spring, DD turns more and more yellow as the season progresses.

Cindy, I think she meant the Heuchera 'Delta Dawn' not the hosta. :-)

My Solar Eclipse is not as vibrant as the pics I've seen. Mine looks more like a green with some flecks of bronze toward the veins.

Heuchera Delta Dawn is great. Mine is starting to get the color like the tag. It's like an improved version of Miracle.

This was the first SE I purchased and after giving it a month to develop I was hooked (see picture below).

And so I bought *3* more in the past couple of weeks.
