I'm glad to hear you got rain. I know you need it. I hope your newly planted daylilies do well. I'm reluctant to plant daylilies this time of year. We'll be near 100 degrees for the next five or six days.

Lucky you Kay. I could never get a daylily to recover in our terrible heat if I were to put it into the ground here right now. Temps have been mid 90s and up with our heat index well into the 100s. The humidity is unbearable right now!
My recent additions are potted up, sitting in dappled shade. I always pot my new ones until they have recovered, then they get added to the garden in fall without the roots being disturbed as I just turn the pot over and it comes out with roots and dirt intact. We are finally getting much needed rain here too!

I received my Maryott order a month ago. We have had less than 1/2" of rain since. The new plants are in pots in the shade, growing, and trying to bloom. Looks like everyone is making it. With the rest of the garden, the more shade the daylilies have, the better they look. In the front of the house (south side) lots of them are taking a siesta via summer dormancy. Those west coast seabreezes (from the Gulf) needs to kick in. Because I live beachside on the east coast, I don't get rain when the east coast seabreeze from the Atlantic blows--it blows the rain inland. The west coast seabreeze brings it right to my back yard. Need that breeze. So much for the rainy season--my garden is crispy! Luckily we seldom get above 90 degrees and almost always have a breeze. But the humidity!!!!!

Yay, rain. Hurray for you, I know you really needed it. What a difference a good soaking rain can do for those daylilies. Did you get them all planted or are there still some more to do?

What a blessing for your new babies (and for the rest of your garden for that matter). Hooray!

Thanks to all, Rita, I have one left to plant, but that is it! Forecast (which means only a little) predicts rain for the week ahead, so we'll see.

Lucky you having one daylily to plant. I have dug daylilies all around me as I started that front yard project of redoing the relocation garden. So I have/had to dig them. Straighten them out, trim folliage and so on and put them to soak for replanting. I can't begin to do the work needs doing on that hill until all the daylilies in that little section are out. And they are such a mess in there. Would have been far better to do this in the spring when they were first leafing out. But I had so many to plant and others that had to be moved in order to do the new garden in the backyard that I was not about to do this project then.
