The guidelines-here are my ideas: 1st-go ahead and post your wish list here, (rank it too). Keep checking back to see if you have anything from others wish lists. 2nd-Deadline for registering will be Sunday Jan 28TH. Participants can then look at everyone's wish lists and mail their seeds that week, I will organize and return seeds the week after that or as soon as all seeds arrive. 3rd-You can mark who the seeds are for (optional) but we may get duplicates or too many for one. Duplicates and surplus will be passed on to other participants to keep things fair and so one person doesn't get 20 wishes but only sent 8 trades. 4th-You will get back as many packs as you send 5th-Please package & lable seeds well. Include as much info as possible so I can match people to seeds. Of course the cross is important, but more descriptions would be ideal to help me out, especially color family (even if on a a separate paper). 6th-You can include up to 2 completely unknown crosses, more can be included as bonuses-(if you have a guess-include that too.) Anyone wanting to donate "Bonus" seeds please label them as "Bonus" or separate them and I will distribute them to other swappers. I'm hoping to see a bit more interest in doing this exchange. I may post a note on Dave's garden as well to see if we can get any international gardeners would be interested in participating. Mayeeta, you're right, we will likely need to limit the number of packets sent and amount of the same type sent to ensure variety. I'll wait a couple more weeks after posting a note on dave's garden before finalizing. Once we have a good indiation of how many are interested in swapping, we'll know what guidelines need to be put in place. Thanks...Heather

Just a reminder to everyone, the seed swap deadline is Friday the 27th. If you haven't mailed out your seeds yet, please do so by Monday so I can have everyone's seeds by the deadline. I will most likely be using the weekend to prepare everyone's packages and will be sending them on their way back hopefully by Monday, if not Tuesday by the latest! I'll post again. I received one more packet of seeds today! If you would like more time to send out your package or cannot mail it out by Tuesday, please LMK or else I will go ahead and fill everyone elses' packages and won't be able to swap!

I don't know how to contact you any other way (I still haven't figured this website out yet...) but I also live in South Africa, would you like to trade seeds with me? I can't find any sort of seed swap programme for South Africa, and everything alse is in America and you need import permits etc... =( Please email me at melissabee@live.co.za if you would like to trade seeds or plants or whatever, and anyone else who lives in South Africa, please email!

I don't have any seeds but would be interested in buying some as well, of double mixed colors, preferably freckled, washed,and bicolor. Perhaps a tall order for seed, but hey, never hurts to dream. My inspiration is the Heronswood doubles pictured in the Wayside Gardens 2007 catalog. I'm new at Hellebores. kamala

This is a bit late, but if you want to buy seed go to Pine Knott Farms web site in June and order some. I believe that the Southern Belle, which produced lovely anemones for me and can also produce doubles, was 5 seeds for 5$ again this year. Their mixed seeds are a tremendous bargain at 50 seeds for 5$. I've gotten beautiful plants from them. Some plants I think were ugly, but the majority were lovely.

If you want specific breeding and better odds of getting doubles in a chosen color, go check out Elizabeth Town and watch for them to post their 2009 offerings...that happens in January I think. Much pricier than Pine Knott, but these are hand pollinated and soted by type with lots of offerings for doubles. Their plants have been very vigorous for me in my zone 6 garden.
