Deer ate my new roses will they survive?
Comments (3)Oh, what a shame! I don't have deer (knock wood) but the rabbits do a number on mine. The best thing is a fence or to cage them some how so they can't be eaten. it's the most effective way to go. Repellents only work for a time and you have to be vigilant about applying them regularly. But eventually they get used to it and ignore it and you have to change tactics. I think your rose will come back. As long as the stem remains green it should grow new leaves. Keep it away from the deer though because it will only have the energy to do that a couple of times before it will die....See MoreDeer ate my cherry tree - will it survive?
Comments (4)I feel your pain. The same thing just happened to me. I also had reason to believe I was safe from deer for a while. Well the fencing is back up and will stay up for a long time until I thing the plants can handle a trimming. Ive done alot of research and thats the best way to go......See MoreDeer ate my Metasequoia
Comments (9)I have deer and both Bald Cypress and Dawn Redwood. Yes, deer will munch on Dawn Redwood leaves (have not seen this with the Cypress). Sounds like yours was quite tall when planted so can't imagine there was much damage to the top. The lower branches that were munched should regrow leaves as long as the branches are still there. I leave the low branches on the DR to discourage deer damage. Remember, deer damage to trees is not just munching; includes rutting of the trunk in the Autumn..., leaving the lower branches on trees such as Metasequoia (and Magnolias among others), does greatly discourage this (they prefer the telephone pole look!) I would not worry about its current shape or recent issue with deer....See Morethe deer ate my Blood Brothers grass
Comments (0)Supposed to be deer-resistant, but a deer chomped mine off at about 1 centimetre from the ground. I had planted it in June and it was doing well, but it was just one little plant. Do you think that it may come back next year anyway?...See MorebruceNH
