What are my chances of getting even a few old seeds to germinate?

I have some old seeds that I want to give a shot...I figured I have nothing to loose. I have them in the refigerator now because someone told me to put them in there for about 30 days...(they've been in there since Halloween because I completely forgot about them). Anyway, what do you think would happen if I planted them now in regular store-bought seed starting mix? Do I really need sand and vermiculite? Like I said, if I get 2 or 3 to sprout I'll be happy. Should I soak the seeds first? Also, should I stick them outside right away (it's in the 20s here on a good day) or should I keep them inside for a while? Thanks for any help.
