Anybody grow birdhouse gourds?
Comments (3)Hi Glo- You might have more luck finding 'takers' over on the exchange side of this board. I got a couple BHGs in a trade- the actual gourds...they are really neat. I already have seeds though. Yep, try posting over there, and I bet you have a taker in no time!...See MoreCan you have TOO many birdhouse gourds on a vine?
Comments (2)I suppose you could have too many gourds on a vine, but the thing you need to watch is the main stem of the vine. Keep it pinched back to about 8 to 10 feet. Comments (9)why bother with a pot??? .. or in fact.. good media ... they can deal with sand and little water ... as noted.. they are a huge plant ... the kids spread them all over the 5 acres for years .... including birdhouse type ... birds did use them.. if i could get the migratory birds into them ... before the wasps took over ... and do not put a landing pad ... i once saw a robin perch on such.. and rip a babe right out of the gourd ... small birds.. wont need some huge landing pad .... yeah.. a freakin robin.... it surprised me .... ken ps: a gourd is a gourd.. is a gourd.. including pumpkin ... if researching.. plant culture.. no need to narrow said search to any particular type ... Here is a link that might be useful: 7th link ... no scale.. but i would guess 12 to 15 feet round .......See Morejenbug
