I ordered 5 Crape Myrtles back in the early part of 2007 from Ty Ty nurseries over the phone. I had to make over 10 phone calls to even speak with a half way decent person to assist me in ordering these Crape Myrtles. Most of the people I spoke with were very rude and lost my order twice. I finally received my trees and they were delivered to my neighbors house.....thankfully not anywhere else. Anyway, I planted them right away in my front yard. Part of the reason I order from Ty Ty nurseries is because of the great prices. I wanted 2 Miami Crape Myrtles to match my one that I had bought from another nursery down the street for $75 versus Ty Ty low cost of under $12, however you had to place atleast a $50 order with Ty Ty. So I ended up buying 2 Miami's, 2 Biloxi's and 1 Muskogee Crape Myrtles. Because of this year's late freeze in Georiga, my Crape Myrtles have not bloomed until the last part of September this year. Guess what color they are blooming.....WHITE. Helllooo! The color of the Crape Myrtle's I ordered was Pink and Purple. They even put white tags on the trees to show the name but was hand written. Needless to say after the HELL they put me through with thier CUSTOMER NO-SERVICE processing the order, I will have to build myself up to call them about a replacement. And then I will not really know if they shipped me the correct things until they bloom again next year. This has taught me a big lesson. Do not buy items from an unfamilar nursery. I believe what they sent me was the Nanchez Crape Myrtle. I could have ordered a Natchez Crape Myrtle for $4.00 from a local 4-H club and have saved tons of money if that is what I wanted. I hesitate about calling them because everyone I spoke with before either sounded like they were half asleep or had an ATTITUDE. WARNING do not shop at this nursery. You will be very disappointed!!! From a VERY UNSATISFIED customer in Dallas, Georgia. GOODBYE $75.00. I am in the process of making a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and found out that there have been over 90+ complaints made this year alone. YIKES! I guess I will always check with the BBB before making anymore purchaces on-line.

Call your credit card company and dispute the charge.
They shot themselves in the foot with hat $50 minimum since that is usually the minimum sale amount you can dispute.

Probably too late to dispute charges on your credit card. Most CC cos. won't accept disputes after 3 billing periods.
You will need to try resolving a dispute directly before filing a report with the BBB or the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs. Check website below for information about how to proceed with action toward the company, including a sample letter.
Was your shipment accompanied by a green GA Department of Agriculture Plant Inspection tag? Required by the Department's regulations. If not, email Tommy Irvin, Commissioner, at: tirvin@agr.state.ga.us and report failure of proof of inspection. Also, ask for determination of a valid Live Plant Nursery License. They were not listed in the current Book.
Both of the GA Government entities have enforcement powers, the BBB does not.

BTW, Growers Outlet has 3G size CM's for $8 and had 4 colors, in bloom.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten about how badly my sourwood tree needed pinebark mulch in my only slightly acidic soil. Last summer I had been so distracted doing some remodeling in a smaller home that I am desiring to move into more soon than later, and because of that I did neglect much of the landscape in the lawn of my present home. Also failing in that back and side yard was 3 of my 6 year old skip laurel shrubs, One of the two potted Heritage birch trees that I was attempting to force them to send up water suckers so that I can get a clump multi trunked tree. Thankfully the other of those two potted birches has survived and is responding very well to my efforts. It just surpised me though that the Sourwood tree would have failed to survive, especially since by 5 years of acclimating to the area, it had previously kept surviving, even though it had not gained much additional height. But especially since it should have been well established in that length of time.

There are no sufficient words to describe what a lousy reputation Ty-TY has with fig growers, and gardeners. Their claims are exagerated, and you will be lucky if you get what you ordered. Mislabeled fig trees are very common, and customer service handling complaints will cause you blood pressure to reach stroke levels. Big figs usually have very little flavor, and almost always, photos of breba figs are shown in the ads. Main-crop figs are usually much smaller. Don't be fooled by the thoughts of growing giant, delicious, figs. "Patrick's Super Giant" might be the over-rated "Texas Blue Giant". I spent two long years waiting for my "TxBG" to produce figs. They were horrible! Half the crop dropped off the tree, and the figs that did ripen, had an insipid, bland "flavor" if you could call it that. A real "zero" in my book. Save your money and buy a real tasty fig variety. Your "German Black Giant" might turn out to be a far superior fig. A forum search will give you plenty of information about fig varieties, and reading past postings is very informative. By the way, if not too much trouble...can you post more pics. of the "GBG" figs, and shots of your tree. I'm also growing this variety, but I'm finding very little information in print, about this fig. You ARE growing "German Black Giant" are you not? How old is your tree, and how many years did you wait for figs? Any critiques about this variety? Good luck, and happy growing. Frank

Several times throughout the years I made major purchases from TyTy Nursery and always had a good result. One day I saw this forum as I was looking for the TyTy site, and I read it. My own experiences were so different from most posted that I thought it was in the public's best interest to hear of my own positive ones, and so I expressed them on three seperate occasions in writing in this very forum. I have no interest in TyTy and do not know any of the people connected with it, even remotely. As the next person who reads this thread may see, what I did in sharing the truth as I actually experienced it brought down upon me personally the type of comments you can read above this posting. What you cannot read is the other two positive reports I posted over the years and the resulting vituperative attacks because the forum censor removed them, although my personal comments were truthful, informative, detailed and inoffensive to any unbiased reader. Because I think it is a good thing for folks to have all the information, good and bad, I shared what I personally knew. It seems that this forum itself is slanted in its viewpoint to the extent that it is not credible. This is not a comment on TyTy one way or the other, because obviously it has been problematic for other people, no matter how much I personally have been pleased. For a forum to pose itself as a place one can share experiences as to "Is Ty Ty Nurseries legit?" and then censor or redact unbiased positive comment on the nursery itself is simply unfair, and for that reason I will have nothing further to do with it and this is my last entry. I am sure this will come as a relief to some folks who comment here,many of whom have never made a single purchase from TyTy but simply love to express their opinions. If history repeats itself and the censor strikes again, these comments will simply be erased as the past ones were. I believe some folks complained that I was upsetting them to the forum, and so the censor was sent on a mission. The truth is hard for some folks to take, and where it troubles the ones in power by disputing the official line, ad hominem attacks and censorship are soon to follow. Anyone bought from Ty Ty Nursery?

I attempted to purchase seven fig trees from Ty Ty Nursery on January 3. I paid in advence with a debit card. They failed to ship and they refused to refund my money. On May 23, I finally received a full refund from Ty Ty (aka "Arrons" aka "The Nursery at Ty Ty") with numerous other DBA's. For those of you unfortunate enough to do business with these people........here's what I did. After 8 or 9 attempts to work with them on my own, I contacted the Georgia Better Business Bureau. This was a complete waste of time. The Nursery owner, Patrick Malcolm, told the BBB that he sent me a refund and the BBB closed out my case. Only problem was........he never sent the check. I next contacted the Georgia Dpt of Consumer Affairs. Nelson Mitchell handled my case and, within four weeks, I received my refund. Funny thing though. The check was dated April 28, 2008, but the envelope it was contained in was postmarked 19 May, 2008. I would highly recommend that anyone having difficulty with this "nursery" (and I use the term loosely) contact the Georgia Office of Consumer Affairs like I did. It seems that a lot of folks have had trouble with their mail-order service. I know someone who went in-person and was very satisfied.

Better to ask around about an unknown vendor.

I have been to this "nursery" in person - what a mess!
Plants were diseased, over-priced and customer service was a joke! Did NOT buy anything there and do NOT recommend them to anyone else!

Maybe Tommy Irwin will fly over the place in a crop duster and spray herbicide on the entire inventory and then they'd be out of business. Nah, that wouldn't stop them.... They make a living selling dead plants.

It's a wreck and they're notorious for selling crap plants. They even sued dave's garden to get all of the negative reviews yanked.

The only upside: the pictures are great. It's like Abercrombie and Fitch plants.

I'm really curious as to why the State of GA will not put a stop to this company? Or the Postal Inspector? ... or some govt agency.

Could be because selling plants of poor quality and having terrible service is not illegal. In fact it's usually a self correcting problem when customers stop returning. Customer loyalty is a requirement in todays retail garden industries.
My theory is the business in a front for some other illegal activities. Probably drugs. Otherwise they would have been gone long ago. Whoops did I just go making an accusation?

I am not the best at explaining how but in a nutshell, I used the HTML image tag. If you google 'html image tag' you will likely find numerous free tutorials.
