ground cover for clay slope

Have an elevated area that runs along the original driveway/parking. We will extend the gravel from original driveway to this "elevated" area and then gravel the top.

I know pictures help, so here you go:

this runs from east (lowest) to west (highest spot)

So the front area of the slope (where currently some old weed/grass is) is facing North, and gets lots of sun from morning till mid afternoon.

It starts at ground level and by the end of it becomes almost 5 ft tall.

far end of it - facing west - gets almost no sun - because of west-facing and the trees next to it

The TOP and ground level will be gravelled, but the side needs to be vegitated. But since one side is facing north, and the other west , and such a difference of sun exposure I am confused on what to plant. Mostly want to have soil errosion control and some nice plant to look at as opposed to weeds, preferably low growing and no mowing required. Flattening the area is not an option so please just dont go there.

Any suggestions?
