Groundcover for shady walkway

Hi, I am new to this site so I apologize if this has been asked before but I was hoping some of you more seasoned gardeners might be able to help me.

I just put down a flagstone walkway along the side of our house from the gate to the back yard. I would like to find something to fill the gaps/spaces. I would like something that will stay green or or at least not completely die out over the winter. I have seen both creeping thyme and moss used in pictures online, and I like both, just not sure which would be best for our conditions. Our soil is sandy (live near the coast) and we are in zone 8. This area gets 3-4 hours of morning sun, and is shaded by the house the rest of the day.

I am open to other plants/groundcovers/grasses besides thyme and moss, I just don't know much about spreading plants like this. Would love to find something that grew fairly quickly as I am a kind impatient and really want the instant gratification!

Thank you so much for considering my question and for your responses.
