Pumpkins, Squash & Gourds

Has anyone ever grown pumkins like these?

They look like regular small pie pumpkins, but they have a hardish shell, more like a gourd, really! I found that out when I tried to carve them in the fall a few years ago. They actually dry and look like a pumpkin, though they are gourds. Anyone ever hear of these sorts of 'pumpkin' gourds?

Depends on size. Gold nugget as an example is small, orange and has a very hard rind. There are probably larger C. maximas with orange skin and hard rinds. Gourds dry with no flesh altho ther are a few squash like some summer squash and ornamental gourds that also do not cure with flesh. Not as hard as a gourd (Lagenaria siceria) tho.

High, if your dh bought the plant around a holiday, most like it's a florist azalea and can be grown indoors. There are several types of azaleas. I had literature about the differen types given to me at a flower show.. I wouldn't fertilize in winter..do you think it could be fertilizer burn? Also, if the plants make it, I think I'd look for an acidic fertilizer, use as recommended. Or better yet, buy an Azalea fertilzer. It doesn't need to be applied as often and contains the necessary nutrients for these plants. You can also use this fertilizer on hydrangeas, gardenias, citrus, camellias, or any acid loving plants. Has anyone ever grown golden budha?

I've grown Golden Buddha for two years and it's a great plant. Mine clears 2.5 feet and gains a little every year. Nonstop bloomer. Prune in the spring......mostly just remove any dead wood and prune the tips of the canes that are healthy. Mine grows in all day sun and does great. Right now I'm about 2 weeks from first bloom and there are about 20 sprays on one small plant. As soon as those blooms start to fade new buds are already developed. Very fragrant, very colorful, and very floriferous. I highly recommend. Michael

Has anyone ever grown a sterile tomato plant?

I can remember just one sterile, aka mule, variety and that was what we now know as Limmony, seeds for which were sent to me by SSE for trial after they got them from their contact Marie Danilenko in the former USSR. Two plants and one had no blossoms, nothing, but very healthy. The other plant clossomed and set fruit normally. But I have seen lots of sterile mules in the planting fields of my commercial friends who grow hybrids. They are much larger plants and stick out in the fields b'c they're also taller, but no blossoms, nothing. Actually there was another variety that was sent to me years ago as Botanique Originale and it had the most beautiful shooting star type blossoms but not one set fruit. That's when I found out that several of the tomato species are self incompatible. LOL Carolyn
