I often leave all grass seed in one contianer. They grow into big nice clump. Contrary to perennials or annuals grass does not fight each other in container and grows as one nice tight clump. Once you ready to trasplant it you can still separate that container into several pieces and plant it that way. I do not start seeds in cells as it is waste of precious space under lights. All my seeds started in 2-4 in pots.

First, back off on the water. This grass is from dry plains of Texas. Further, the plant tends to acquire a golden glow as it comes in to bloom. But if yours truly is brown, something is wrong.
