soap chips?

what is a good way to get rid of bath soap that is almost gone but not quite, there must be something. I like to work out in the garden and somebody said something about a good bug repellent????

I just press the last softened sliver onto the next fresh bar of soap. It cements itself onto the new bar and becomes part of it.

I don't know about a bug repellent, but I used to put all the soap chips in the foot of an old stocking, and then hang it near the faucet outside to wash my hands with. Actually, when the kids were little, they used to love to wash their hands with this inside the house, where I kept it in the bathroom, but when they got older I moved the stocking outside.

Now I use liquid soap. Got tired of being the only one in the house who scraped the soap bits off the soap dish, lol.

We have the deer herd also,Cameron , supplemented this year by an explosion in the cottontail population. Could be because the fox families have moved and the barred owls have been run off by the great horned variety that like a larger territory for just one breeding pair. At any rate, I have lots of beds of ice plant and it is fine. It's the purslane that got decimated repeatedly until I just carved up some Irish Spring soap and spread it around. In prepared beds with loosened soil the fawns would grab hold and just pull the plants out of the ground. A couple of nibbles and they'd walk away. Constantly replanting these same plants. But the soap chips really helped and Irish Spring is really scented..don't store it where you have food in cartons or the scent will get in that stuff too.

This issue is on-going across MANY brands, due to the fact that the heating coils are no longer exposed like they used to be. Not sure when the change was made, but at one point in time a few Decades ago..., manufacterers decided to remove the coils from the bottom of the oven and submerge them below the oven floor. This was for a cleaner and more modern asthetic, but also easier for cleaning. But since the elements are below the oven floor, the enamal will flake off. If you run your convection fan (as most people do) you are sending tiny shards of glass all into your food, potentially. I've seen somebody say they were so sick and tired of this issue that they ripped their oven out completely and rely solely on their stainless steel interior appliances: - Steam Oven (or combination steam oven w/ a brioler at the top) - Advantium Oven 5--in--1 microwave oven - Toaster Oven etc While this may not work for some people's cooking habbits, they said they haven't missed their oven at all. Their food comes out quicker because the caviites of those other appliances are about half the size as what their normal oven was. If you think about it, how often do you use your oven and think, "gee, I wish I had MORE space in here." Probably never. Do we really need to preheat a massive 5 cubic foot oven for 30 minutes, just to bake a 3 inch thick slice of salmon? I know this isn't completely relevant to the OP's original question, but perhaps a solution to those furious with their ovens chipping. Imagine the things you most-often cook, and Think to yourself : "could my meals be made in other appliances instead?"

LG 2277 front loading washer paint chipping on lower edge of cont

Anyone else have paint chipping on the lower edge of the control panel. It is happening on the lower edge near both corners. It could be due to the slight vibration when the machine in spinning. Do you think it would be covered under warranty with BEST BUY- I purchased a five year extended warranty at the time of purchase? Also the lower right edge of the soap dispensor has chipped the paint on the washer where it closes at the corner. Other than that we love our FL-bought one of the first ones when they were recommended by Consumer Reports. Thank you for your help. Also when I did a search on LG 2277 I did not get any matches-that is crazy.

You'd probaly have a steel or brick firebox, with a soapstone overlay for decorative purposes. It would not be too soft, but if you oil it, it will be rather dark. Soapstone changes heat slowly [that's why if feels less cold than granite-- it doesn't soak up your body heat as readily]. This makes it ideal for a primary heating appliance, since it 'buffers' the highest heat of a woodstove, warming up and cooling off over time. Not so good for an occasional use heater IF you want that sudden burst of heat when you come in from skiing, or whatever.

I've read it will keep the bunnies away from your vegetable plants. On Sunday I planted a few veggies. By Monday afternoon, something had nibbled on my pepper plants. I grated a bit of Ivory soap around the peppers and on the leaves, and I just checked, there has been no further nibbling. I've heard Ivory and Irish Spring, but not whether any kind will work.

I just break up the last remains of the soap bar, stick 'em in a pump bottle, add some water, shake and you have liquid soap or just add them to your liquid soap if you use that stuff.

I pour hot water over it and it turns into a soap jelly that works great for washing laundry. We have soft water, though.

I have a soap bar holder from years ago. I put all the chips in there, and when it's almost full, I add water and some essential oils (you can buy them cheap at the dollar stores sometimes.) and when it dries, I have a new bar of sweet smelling soap. You can also melt them down, recolor them, and pour them into those ice cube trays that have special shapes for all seasons, or candy molds, for guest soaps.

I also make liquid soap from a soap bar. I just grate some soap, pour cold water over it and let it dissolve slowly overnight. I used to boil it up, but found it got too thick and solid, and wouldn't come out of the pump.

I put glass marbles in the bottom of the pump container. If the soap gets a bit solid, I just shake it up, and the marbles mix it up nicely. They also weight the pump bottle down so that even when it's nearly empty, it doesn't tip over.
