I ordered ginger roots.. it has been a month.. are they still alive? How long does it take them to root?

it was Hawaiian pink ginger

Did you get a plantlet with foliage or a bare-root rhizome? How big? Pink Ginger (Alpinia purpurata) doesn't have a dormancy, at least not in Hawaii, and it doesn't have the same kind of fleshy running rhizome that, say, a hedychium has, so I'm trying to picture how it was sold to you if it wasn't an actively growing plant. The little plantlets (aerial offsets from the inflorescence) should root readily, but there's not really much rhizome there, so if it looks dead, it probably is. If, however, what you got looked like a big chunk of stem with a swollen base and the foliage cut back, it might take a bit longer to see some action. As long as the stem still looks firm, it's probably still good. I'd give it at least another month, and if you don't see anything happening by then you might have to unpot it and investigate. It should at least be putting out some roots, even if you haven't seen a new shoot yet.

Sevimo, when you look at the rootball look where the top of it is in relation to how deep it was planted. I'm seeing stems protruding from the ground in a wide circle, not common in a small rhody, because it was in a pot at one time. A pot a lot smaller than the distance between the stems coming out of the ground. I think it was recently moved to it's present location and planted too deep. The top of the rootball should be replanted just above the soil and then a mulch applied around it, not touching the stems. kmb55, your problem looks to be quite different. Start your own thread so that it can be dealt with separately. List your Zone and location also. Looks like you had a very cold winter to me. Mike...with a garden full of rhododendrons. Isn't it a pain waiting? I have five in the ground Four have "sprung". Three have single shoots and one has about six pups. The fifth plant which is the oldest (survived two winters protected in the ground) is just lying there , giving me fits. You never know with these things.Wait it out.

It's not a real snapdragon, but a vine I saw while walking near my house. It's called a snapdragon vine even though it is no relation to snapdragons. My real snapdragons fell over in the rain too. If the blooms are fading go ahead and cut them back. They may bloom again before it gets hot. They don't like hot weather, but you can try keeping them in shade and letting them rest in the summer to bring them out again in the fall. If we have a really hot, dry summer they may not make it or may not be worth the space you have to give up. I plan to try cuttings of the little vine to get it planted in my yard. Like everything else around here it appears to be growing out of solid rock so no way to dig it up without killing it. It's really cute and I've linked to the thread below. Years ago I ordered a lime tree from the same company. It takes them forever to ship out. I received the tree after about a month of waiting. Calling and giving bad reviews didnt help. When the tree arrived it was exactly what i expected for the price: a small rooted cutting. It was a great tree to practice citrus culture on because it was so inexpensive...I eventually killed it and learned from the growing experience. My current citrus are from Four Winds.
