You have a Pumpkin Picking Party 1 person for each 75lbs. Then use a lifting tarp, get the lifting tarp under it. 1,2,3 lift. Grow the 900lber and you will find people to help you get it out of there.

Just wondering...
In absence of a "lifting tarp", would you be able to use a regular tarp? Or would it just tear??

There are other betters ones out there..P and P seeds, and many of the Gainp pumpkin organizations have them. As the pumpkins get bigger every year lifting rings are the new toy for moving them. It has 8 straps that hang down. Slide them around. Tighten the rope and lift.

Next time you think an Atlantic Giant or Big Max is going to wigh more than 6 men can easily move on a tarp, place a well-padded pallet under the fruit. A forklift may not be able to negotiate the soft soil, but a tractor with a front end loader and some well-placed chains will be your answer.

I have just the machine for harvesting any giant pumpkins. Believe it or not, I will use my combine. My machine has a feederhouse crane [for loading/unloading its header] and I can hook the chains to the pallet and haul the big fruit. Beside, I think it will be really cool to employ a combine for harvesting a giant squash! LOL!

I routinely move giant pumpkins across the grass at a farm homestead by placing them on a 4x8 sheet of plywood and towing it with a garden tractor. Make sure you keep the front end of the plywood bent upwards a bit so it doesn't dig into the grass...1/2 inch works good-strong enough and flexible enough to get that "tobboggan front"
