diploid vs. tetraploid streps?

I know I have read a thread on here a long time ago about this, but I can't seem to find any info on it anymore. So, was it dipoids or tetraploids that are harder to hybridize? I know mighty mouse was brought into the discussion, but I don't remember what it was--diploid or tetraploid. I do remember that it was *almost* sterile, but can produce up to 7 seeds.
Basically could somebody explain to me the differences in these types of streps in relation to hybridizing? thanks in advance!
