Can you name this-- friend or foe?

So this stuff is coming up in my shade garden (under the trees) Anyone know what it is? There is quite a bit of it and it looks pretty now, but I have seen some nasty weeds start out pretty. I wonder if I got this at the trade last year and now just can't remember it.

I don't think it is a geranium. Someone posted what I think is the same thing on the Name that Plant forum and it was suggested that it could be Virginia Waterleaf, Hydrophyllum virginianum. I'm not so sure that is it, but it certainly looks possible.

I have seen this before (perhaps even in my own woods), but have never identified it.

I don't know about the other plants but to have the exact penstemon. I almost missed it because it was partial buried by mulch. However, I have no idea what its name is.

That is definately not a Japanese Beetle. It does have, from what I can see the general shape of one of the Stink Bug family members some of which are beneficial while others are pests.

It's an seedling, which looks like an oak to me; if you dig down, I'm pretty sure that you will find an acorn.

Wow Ellen, you are good. I was thinking it might be some sort of geranium, but now I am pretty sure that it is the Virginia Waterleaf, or perhaps maybe Large Leaf Waterleaf, Hydrophyllum macrophyllum? Says it is the same but a little bigger and hairy, I need to go check the plant again, but I seem to recall it being a little hairy.
