Yuccas in South Georgia?

My soil has very good drainage, sandy in texture. I have ordered three Yucca filamentosa "Color Guard" to put in a spot that gets all day sun. I haven't been successful getting anything to grow in this spot because of the hot afternoon sun. So...thought I'd try Yuccas. I also ordered one Yucca aloifolia "Variegata" to go in a rather large spot that is also a hot dry area. My question is, how much soil conditioners will I need to add. I have not grown Yuccas before, nor do I know anyone in my area who does. I hope I haven't made a big mistake in taking a chance on these Yuccas.

Here is the Georgia county by county distribution for Yucca filamentosa. I assume this is a map of indigenous locations, but that is not confirmed.

Do you think any of these areas would have similar sandy soil texture to yours?

Other than that, I cannot comment on what it would take (if anything) to grow this in your soil.

I can't imagine having trouble with yuccas. They're pretty much bullet-proof throughout the state.

If your soil is very sandy, you might even try some agaves.

From my home it is about 98 miles north (approximately two hour drive.) Goes through several small towns that slows down the driver. It's too bad there is no interest in re-introducing the species in the area because many homes have small ponds or wet ditches and there is at least one large lake -but all devoid of sarracenias. Got the directions from a relative who drives around the region in his work.

I have some you can have. Unfortunately I don't know the variety name. I see if I can find out. My SIL in Michigan gave them to me which will garauntee there hardiness for you.
