Hi meli. Seems like we are in the same zone. Do you live in the Seattle/Tacoma area? That last geranimum with the deeper edge is a Martha Washington. My very favorites! Technically, one is not suppose to propagate them, but I've done it. They seem to come quite readily from cuttings in late summer, early autumn. Unfortunately, I haven't had alot of success trying to overwinter geraniums. But, I think I'll give it another try this season as I now have a place that is more suitable. Anyway. I have grown several F2 Zonal geraniums from seed this winter. They NEED to be potted on now, and I expect to be able to do that this weekend...but keep them under the light unit until the weather warms up. I would be happy to trade any of them for any cuttings/plants of yours. I want to start trying to hybridize geraniums as there hasn't been alot of work done on them, and it would be nice if someday, a hardier pelagorium was marketed. I do have a pretty hardy geranium that was given to me several years ago. It is much smaller than most I have seen and the blooms just cover the plant in spring. They are a light pink. I'd be happy to trade some of those too. I need to make starts of them this season so I will definitely have some to share. Last year I kept zonal pelargoniums and a scented geranium in a VERY cool bedroom by a east facing window. The zonals did very well, with reduced watering , and the scented didn't do so well, but survived. They were planted in the same pot. I set them outside for the summer. In direct sun. The scented loved the sun, even more than the zonals. Thinking I would have great luck with scenteds. I love these and haven't had great luck keeping them over the winter. Also, I hate to put money into these if I can't keep them over the winter. One of the new scenteds was Atomic Snowflake. I love this one. Thinking it might do better in a warm plant porch with lots more sun and heat than my cool bedroom. In a weeks time it started dropping leaves and looking horrible. Whoops, I took it outside for a few more warm sunny days, cleaned off all the dead leaves and took it back to the cool bedroom. We'll see how she goes. So I'm still trying to find out if the Scenteds like different growing conditions through the winter than the zonals. Oh, and I have one stellar (Vancouver Centennial) that likes the cool bedroom with reduced watering throughout the winter. Sorry for the long post, and hope I made sense.

sloyd thanks for the suggestions but I don't think those will work for me - most are too dark for this space which is a long rectangle with windows only at the far end (townhouse). THe lighter ones have green undertones and while I like green it doesn't look good with the warm red and the browns in our scheme, I think. I guess I am looking for a white with warm udnertones or a cream that is not "buttery".

I am in the UK. I know the plant in the picture as 'Plum Rambler', named I assume for its purplish-cerise flower colour. It is one of the victorian Rambler range, of which Apple Blossom is the only well-known one it seems. I am also lucky enough to have 'Red Rambler' [brilliant scarlet] and 'Rose Rambler' [a deep cerise-pink]. I have tried to find out as much as possible about them. I have heard they were Queen Victoria's favourite [which is a predictable sales-pitch] and that apple blossom at least was created in the early 1800s. They do all seem to share parentage in their large straggly habit as well as the flower shape. Leaf-markings seem to be variable with climate, light, soil type etc, but often develop a red cast all over, especially if left in the same pot for long. I am now specially lucky, as I found someone who gave me a cutting of the rarest one I know, the variegated Apple Blossom. This seems to be a much slower-growing plant, as might be expected, with paler blooms.
