Toxic hardy geraniums?

I emailed a friend that I was growing hardy geraniums in my yard. The only problem I was having was with them loving to chase each other through them and doing a bit of their own landscaping by doing so. My friend insists that hardy geraniums are quite toxic if they should eat them. I've searched the web and can find no mention of them being poisonous. Are they? I really doubt they'll try to eat them. They're interested in the rabbits, cats and birds that sometimes come into my yard (fortunately, for them, they're good at getting away from my dogs).

Upon major, major searching, I finally found two references to Hardy Geraniums on poisonous plant lists. They did not mention just how toxic, toxic parts or symptoms. I wonder how dangerous they really are when hardy geraniums are rather common garden flowers yet it was difficult to find any lists mentioning them.

Any list of poisonous perennials that I've seen (been gardening and working in the industry for years) does not include any Geranium sp.

Hello, Red Carnation are Black Knight, a deep red, they are two seasons old pot grown and would love to be out of there pots, some are throwing up babies around the base, love parade also pot grown on second season and has flowered, I just cut them back so they will fill out even more and they should reflower, Colorado mix is a mix color seed packet that I grew last year, I have one pot that is in bloom now it is a rosy red, It seems all of them that have bloomed have been this color, a few more are ready to bloom but I can truely tell their color yet. Honeysuckle, Lonicera ciliosa, is two year old cuttings around 18 inches and branched out pretty will,starting blooms now. Embothrium, wow good call! I've checked out Claridge Druce on line. It appears to be an exact match for my garden geranium. The one already planted. Here is another picture of that geranium taken today. What is a bit confusing to me, is I'm certain that the name of the cultivar wasn't two words. It was one word that was a simple woman's name. However what I have growing is certainly Claridge Druce. So the person who named my plant must have been in error. That's the only conclusion I can come to. My new geranium does look identical as well. Campanula, I have geraniums growing with roses too. They make a wonderful plant for the not quite sun, light conditions of my garden. The above picture shows this dappled light which is typical of my garden. Here Claridge Druce is mixed with hydrangeas for the shrub, with white Bleeding Heart and primroses accompanying.

Looks like Geranium phaeum 'Samobor'. And that one can self seed quite enthusiastically :-))

I'll be danged if I can find the 2 poisonous plants lists again that I saw with Hardy Geraniums on them. Saw many lists without them listed though. That's why I wasn't overly concerned. It just took me by surprise when my friend mentioned them as being toxic. That's why I was asking if anyone heard of this before. Thanks so much, cpg!

Do you grow azaleas? rhododendrons? ivy? daffodils? daphne? they are all toxic..... dogs aren't usually poisoned by garden plants but by anti freeze, onions, chocolate and tylenol. I would not worry about hardy geraniums.
