Reblooming scapes

Do reblooming scapes look any different from the one time bloomers? I usually cut down the stalk once all buds are done. Should I let it be, since I don't know which one is a rebloomer?

Rebloomers will send up new scapes not bloom on the old ones. The old scapes will turn brown and die once they are done blooming unless they set a seed pod so if the scape is done blooming it's OK to cut the scape.

It's my understanding that the plant reabsorbed energy from the scape, so I don't cut them down until they are brown.

Thank you, Rita.FIERY MOMENT has 3 rebloom scapes loaded with buds,CHINA BRIDE is on her last scape,and I dont see any more scapes coming on it.Sure hate that,as I love this daylily.I did find a couple rebloom scapes coming on ALL FIRED UP. Its out in the bed I call a jungle garden,since I have daylilies, roses,marigolds,and Zinnia's in it,Oh and one AFRICAN DAISEY PLANT in the mix.I had to pull some of the marigolds out as it was just too crowded. Then this evening I found 2 more rebloom scapes coming on CONDILLA.It was beautiful all summer with double blooms. NAT.yep,I am very happy for a reblooml, and MS BLACKIE is going to be where ever I am at any where in that yard, NANCY. The heat wasn't bothering Ms BLACKIE today very much,as it was early and had not gotten that hot yet.When its real hot out and I have to go water in the late evening, she follows behind me,and after I have watered heavy in a few spots,she waits till the water soaks up a little so its not a puddle there,then she gos and lays down where I watered at, with her tummy on the ground and front and back feet straight out.Guess she finds it cooler like that for awhile.,Shes a lot of company for me,as she stays very close to me.and when she first came here, she was starving and skinny and I could not get no closer then 20 feet from her.Now,there is no way I can get 20 feet away from her.Shes a little doll,and so loveing. Just from my experience growing daylilies in Houston for over a decade. July thru October is a very tough time for daylilies there. Over stressed plants will rot on you. Your plant looks like it is stressed now from the yellowing leaves or you may have daylily rust, which may also stress the plant. Do as you wish though. ltilton: not familar with OP's zone. Is that Old People's zone? Daylilies grow in Houston (and typically) in spring and fall, not winter and summer.

Woohoo! Rebloom! I'm curious though, because I would have thought in zone 8 you'd get a fair amount of rebloom. Maybe it is because in OR even though you don't get super cold winters, you are pretty far north and I guess the days start getting pretty short? Casey

I did not know that plant reabsorbed the energy from the scape - will let them brown from now on before trimming them.

I never cut mine. when they are totally brown, if a very gentle tug removes it, then that's when I remove it.
