Valentine's Surprise

I had written my husband off as being unromantic some time ago, but today he surprised me. I jokingly asked him as he left for work, "Will I need to go pick up my chocolate today?" He said to call him later and let him know. Later I went to the kitchen, and noticed a new blue pitcher. I honestly thought it was another weird gift from his office. I took a peek at it, and saw not only lots of chocolate, but also several packs of seeds for some veggies I've been wanting to try to grow! I'm so excited I wanted to share!

Blanca, your mysterious calyptratum is gorgeous as is your Salmon Taneia!! I do have a good sized bulb of Salmon Tanieia and can't wait until it blooms!! I use the term "can't wait" loosely as that's all we do is wait!! Maria, I noticed also that the colors are much too saturated on these pictures to be true so when I save them to my files for future reference I adjust the exposure (I can do it right in my Windows Photo Gallery) and it lightens them up considerably to what I believe is more correctly their true colors. I don't know anything about filters when shooting pictures but I do feel that they are doing something to make the colors more vibrant..(just my opinion of course). Okay,...here's the thing: (1) I received Jessica's (foreverrecyclereuse) totally fab card and seeds precisely on the 14th. (2) The following day, diabetic neuropathy issues kinda slapped me down, although, in the evening, I worked on trying to capture the best photos I could of her card and seeds, using a camera with a non-functioning flash. The results were absolutely dismal. Then, (3) yesterday, when the sun came out for a bit, Elly & I went outside to hopefully achieve better photographic results,...which we did. So now,... Thank you, Jessica, for your wonderfully creative card (loved the googly-eyed flowers especially,...LOL! - That, and your poetic sentiments inside)! Sorry it's taken me 3 whole days to get this posted, but at least I have some semi-decent photos to post, finally. We're definitely getting a new camera with our tax return, relegating our current 6.0-pixel relic to auxiliary standby status in our car's glove box.

That was really thoughtful that he gave you the seeds along with the chocolate. You'd think with all of us being gardeners, that anything to do with gardening would be an obvious gift, but that isn't always the case!

I told mine that I didn't want anything this year, not even a card. Instead I went on a little shopping spree on ebay last night.... :) I found this seller who makes homemade bubble bath, soap, lotion, candles, etc. She has one scent called "Angel's Trumpet". If this stuff smells anything at all like a brug I'll be in heaven!!! HAPPY VALENTIES DAY EVERYBODY!size=4>color=red>

I have also written my husband off as unromantic, but yesterday SURPRISE he show up with 12 garendia plants, 2 minature roses, and a huge icecream cake! The kid's are enjoying the icecream cake. I'm happy as I can be. Over the years he used to bring me home cut roses or flowers. Although I appreciated it, I enjoy having a plant that I can enjoy for years not just a few days. He has finally gotten the hint. Now that he has taken the hint, I have to find a suitable place for the gardenia's! I have read on here how difficult they are to grow. I've never grown any before, now I have 12 precious little lives in my hands, wish me luck!

I haven't found gardenias to be hard. Just plant and they take off. Do a search so that you have the proper conditions they need. Are they the small ones or the large? Be sure to find out before you plant. Good Luck and Congratulations to you and your thoughtful husband!

Jessay 3, I have only one criteria for my several gardenias and that is to protect them from the north winds. I read that years ago and moved several from the south side of my house to the north side and they have been so much happier.
