Tuesday and Wednesday photos

Start off with a group shot of Guardian Angel, Grape Velvet and echinacea Magnus in the background. Picture came out a bit fuzzy, sorry.

Petals pinching weird on this unknown today...quite a few did this, probably weather related because it's been cool the past few days.

Another petal pinching.

FFO, so flower isn't its best.

I think I need more blue-eyed daylilies.

Petal got bunched up with the petaloids (is that what you call those smaller petals that make up the doubles?)

And finally, this unknown is my best bud builder, last year I counted a scape, after blooming nearly a month, with about 40 buds. No rebloom, but it blooms for a really long time. I have three large clumps that just started blooming a couple days ago. Not a fancy daylily, but I like it for its blooming power, and the color isn't bad either.

I think that last not fancy daylily is really pretty. And with 40 buds its certainly a winner. At least in my book, it is! I like your first group shot with the dark then the light and then the darker colors all in a row. It's a tie for favorite for me between JORDAN VERHEART and ASIAN EMASSARY. They are both such stunners I couldn't choose between them. All the other blooms are pretty too.

These are all so pretty,I love that first shot.Love the dark one in it. also really like BLUEBERRY FROST. My favorite of all of them is JORDAN VERHAERT. Gorgeous bloom.

Mantis, I will have to get back to you on Good Impressions rebloom. I know it doesn't rebloom anywhere the way Happy Returns does. Julia, I have wondered if our orange double NOID was Peach Magnolia, but the scape height has never achieved 32" as listed by AHS nor have any of the flowers been 5.5 inches. It is a dormant diploid, but I would say the bloom season for us is early, not MLA. The thing is, growing conditions from place to place can vary greatly, so anything is possible. I would love to be able to definitely name it, but probably won't happen. Glad everybody likes E. Esmerelda, sure wish the color had come out the way it looks here, which I would describe as Raspberry Red, really striking. I appreciate all your comments and interest. Avedon

njmomma:I have a Canon EF Lens EF70-300 F4-5.6 IS USM lens on the Canon Rebel. Easier for me to use this lens when photographing the blooms since I don't have to get too close to the blooms, ie step in the bed to get a good closeup shot. It is set on auto focus and all I need to do is adjust the distance, ie 70 through 300, for closeups. Heavier camera now with this lens on. I love our Canon Rebel. The simpler to do pics the better for me. ;-). I also use a Canon SD800 Powershot IS. Small, easy to handle but I think the zoom is nothing special and I prefer the bigger lens on the Canon Rebel. Schoolhouse- I'm so glad you're here! Beautiful strainer...tea is such a fun way to enjoy something to drink...and have beautiful dishes and accessories, too. Very pretty honey container. It reminds me of Laura Calder's kitchen in French Food at Home. I watch her show on the cooking channel and she has wonderful containers for her honey, oils, wine (decanters)...and a milk bottle full of cream or 'creme fraiche'. I bet she has wonderful tea, at her house! Katrina ellen- Oh, I hope you get a cat. Dogs are fun, but kitties love to cuddle. At least mine do (LOL) especially as the weather gets cooler. ML- I'm glad the parrots had a good time. I bet they love being out of their cages. I hope you get your daylilies and have a safe trip home. It will be fun to see all of your plants...and we have to have tea in your new Teahouse...at least online :) Marti- I think it will get busier on the forum. As the days get shorter, I think more people will be on the computer and thinking about inside projects, again.

" listing all of the work I did building my house as if it were a job (it was, after all) and putting in plenty of buzz words about managing the project." that was a very good idea! you did do all of those things - and on your own. no need to tell them you were boss. tho, that's what others who operate a bz have to 'resume'. that was such a tremendous accomplishment! it'll come... maybe you could throw out a date in 2-4 wks and see what their reaction is. you could just be needing time to 'clear up loose ends' so you'll be totally on your toes at a new job. you can think of a better way of wording that. some days I struggle with my name - lol! ok, not quite that bad yet but I did think yesterday was Thurs and Friday! I started out going out to do errands to leave Friday clear for trash day... but before I left I put trash in the car to take to my sister's. Friday is trash day. her bin was out so by the time I got home I was very confused about what day it was... I'm another one who is so glad not to be in the work world anymore. I wasn't when I was first disabled (when I was awake to think about it) even tho I knew I couldn't hold a job anymore. now when I look around at what is going on in places - heck, I hardly want to go out to do errands anymore.

Beautiful shots Karen! My fave is Jordan Verhaert. Makes me wonder why I don't have that one since I have Martina Verhaert and Francois Verhaert.

I would think, the last one is a good anchor plant to have. Continues color in the garden when others are beginning or ending.
When our temps went down yesterday, I noticed alot of the daylilies were having problems opening. Same thing this morning so it won't be until this afternoon I can get some decent photos.

Love Jordan Verhaert, nice photos. the cooler temps are also causing some issues here. I noticed that Paper Butterfly is really pinched today. It was 49 degrees early this morning!! cindy

H. Jordan Verhaert has grown on me. I especially like that smaller orange circle, inside the red eye.
There are really bands of color there, from the green to yellow throat to the orange, then red eye and finally the matching red edge.
Just a very nicely put together plant.
