Weeping Fig=Ficus Benjamin?

I think this is true. Anyway, here is my question. After fighting with my ficus tree each fall, I have decided not to put it outside during the summer on a shady porch. It loves it but come fall when I move it inside there is hell to pay. The tree sulks for what seems like months on end, dropping leaves endlessly. I have decided to put it upstairs in an eastern window but the room also gets bright southern light in the afternoons. I hope to leave it there because this tree has also become so big it crowds out all my other must-have high light plants. Someone told me a ficus can adapt to lower light, it's just the moving that disturbs it. Is this true? will it eventually adapt?
