Vikki's Garden in blog as Garden Inspiration

Vikki (Vikki1747) sent me a few fabulous photos of her garden. I've published her salvia leucantha in the island bed today in my blog. Tomorrow, I will publish another one of her gardens.

Brenda (Gottagarden) has also been published in my blog.

PS Thousands of folks read the blog each month. There are times when the articles may be published in online newspapers. I just started allowing that in Septebmer. So far, Chicago Sun Times and Reuters have published 3 of the blog articles. If you have a business related to gardening, I'm happy to include that information in the post if you have a website.

Beautiful pics of Vicki's Salvia leucantha on your blog.

BTW, I grow Salvia leucantha 'Santa Barbara' and it overwinters reliably for me. Just be sure to establish it in Spring to early Summer, and don't cut back the stems till mid-Spring. It emerges late (around late April, early May), but it emerges. I agree that the Salvia leucanthas are looking particularly good this year.

What Spazzy said: early establishment in spring, leave the ugly stems all winter. I know from experience. I started with a single gallon pot.

I have numerous clumps of the tall dark purple throughout the garden. There is one clump of the white with purple in its second year here. Oh, and 3 little pots blooming in the GH that I forget why I rooted them.

Mexican bush sage has been blooming here since mid-September and is still looking good. It's the footer pic on my blog.

(((Cross posted this on the 'Conversations' side yesterday)) I've been thinking about starting a garden blog lately. Not sure if I will actually do it or not, still pondering that one! I'm pretty ignorant about the ways of blogging though... I did get some of my questions answered on conversations, except for the one I am having the most trouble figuring out, how to manage pictures. I have ALL my pics on Photobucket. Shall we say hundreds? I constantly upload pics to certain albums (such as one for Perennials, organized alphabetically to coincide with my personal plant records etc), delete old pics and such. Trouble is the html links all get broken when I do this. How do you guys manage this problem? I would hate to forget, shuffle things around and then end up with blank pics on my blog that I would have to go back and fix later. I don't want to have a secondary hosting site- I would prefer it all on my current PB account if possible. As I said, I am challenged in this area, lol. Only way I could figure of doing it is to create a separate album for blog post pics on PB, and then sub-albums for each of my separate posts from there. I could copy the pics from my other albums and move the copy to the sub-album so the link will never be broken to the blog and I could still move or delete the originals (in the original album) as I liked. What do you think? Or is there a simpler way of doing it I have yet to think of? Thanks for any tips you can give! CMK

When I grew it at my previous house, I didn't have as much open, full sun space. When the leucantha bloomed, I was so stunned that I thought I'd found my perfect plant. I didn't cut it back and anxiously awaited it the next year...didn't happen. It's been all I can do to resist trying here, but I think I'm going to have to give in since I have a south and east garden...try one in each to see which is best.

One thing we haven't mentioned is that those velvety bloom spikes dry really well for a winter arrangement.
