It looks like a coleus to me. They have all different colors, some with ruffle leaves. That one is very pretty.

Wish I could help, but I don't know either, but it sure is pretty. I'd buy it too. :o)

I'm inclined to agree w/ Foreverlad - every coleus I see in image searches has toothed edges to the leaves & rough surfaced leaves. However "in the coleus family" does not necessarily mean "coleus".

Thanks Carol, yeah, this'll get reposted, but I wanted to give Floridians first dibs =P

Clicking on the first photo, you (anyone) can get a closer look at the plant. The stem is perfectly round and solid, whereas a lot of coleus have squared or pliable stems. It also has some shine to it, almost waxy in appearance. While the leaves are slightly scalloped like some coleus, the veining on the underside is more pronounced than what I see on most solenostemon.

I think it's either celosia or an amaranthus. I'm trying to find a better picture of just the foliage or stems of either, but most images feature the flower.

The link of the celosia below is pretty close. However, I know that amaranthus, a fairly robust plant, can have bright red stems; your plantlets look pretty sturdy for this early in the season, hence the amaranthus possibility.

Thanks June. I definitely see the resemblance to Celosia but for the bend and scalloping in the leaves. Truthfully, I've never seen a Celosia more than 2" tall or so, usually from multi-pack trays at the big box stores. I'd say this plant isn't quite as compact as my extremely limited experience with Celosia.

I did repost this over on the Name That Plant Forum, and the two suggestions thus far are Acanthaceae or Amaranthaceae, neither of which are a perfect match.

After some additional research with guidance from the suggestions in both threads, I'm starting to think it's Celosia Plumosa aka Plume Cockscomb.
