Did you get that at the Cape Coral Farmers market? DId they have any more? Do you go there regularly so you'd know if that vendor was always there.

This is one of my favorite orchids, and *the* one I recommend to people who want to just "try out" one orchid (why do people always recommend Phalaenopsis?). I'm also in z9, but south Louisiana, so probably a tad hotter. I hose mine off every day that it doesn't rain, and several times a day lately, since it has been in the 103-104F area each afternoon, and mine is also on a wood mount. While it doesn't want to be soggy, this plant, on a mount with no medium, needs to be at least wetted often, and really soaked once/twice a week depending on your humidity. This is a really excellent orchid that has *some* flowers almost all the time, and blooms staggeringly lushly 3-4 times per year. Mine has about 20 inflorescences now, half with buds open, so it will be "in bloom" for another month or two. A very good buy that you will enjoy for a long time! Regards - Nancy

Thxz Josh, The hummels were kind of a bonus, I was trying to get the golden leafs (0rgyalis) and the hummels were in the pot with it, love my farmers market. sundewd, what a cool handle, I hope it doesnt get too cold for it Im in sunny Calif. thxz for the tip tho. kathi, Lucky me when I get a chance to visit but this was a cacti & succulent weekend for me, and thats what I call being lucky :) thxz. How very fortunate! Bet you were a popular man that night! Way to go! PdA is a real beauty, just a little slow to get started sometimes. Mine did bloom it's first season but remained pretty short. I was still pleased because it's in it's sleep year. :) (sleep, creep, leap.) Tanya

Here's what I have of a 505 plant-planting. I actually hand picked the seeds from a bird food bag of Cardinal Blend & kept the plumpest seeds so the birds had more meat to eat. I cut most of them but left all the little ones (branching sunflowers) on the plants for the wildlife. Anyway, I think I have 350 dried flower heads. I've been drying them for 3 weeks. Dax These are the (2) I'm keeping for seeds as they are the (2) largest at 9" across: The birds beat me to that one but, lots of seeds. Msmarion, thank you. Yes the queens wreath is a new plant, I am so happy I found it today.
Barb, yes I got it at the Cape Coral Farmers market. That was the only one there today but hopefully she have some more.

Jan, you're going to love your queen's wreath!

Barb, if that vendor doesn't have any more, and you can get to T-p tropicals check their's out too. I got a huge one from them last Spring at Mounts for like $25 or 30. It had about 8 vines all intertwined on a trellis and has bloomed on and off since I got it.

Beautiful sunset, beautiful Queen's Wreath. This flowering vine has captured part of my heart. I will be getting one from a gardening friend here in FL Gard. and I am thankful for her generosity. I look forward to watching it grow and blooming for the first time.
