Marseilles Yellow Report

Figs are still ripening here is South Louisiana and many cultivars are having problems with the wet weather. In spite of heavy rains and a cool front coming through, I am pleased to report that Marseilles Yellow is still producing excellent tasting fruit in my yard with no noticeable taste dilution or splitting from the rains. This cultivar has a tight eye and hangs on the tree real well when fully ripe. It is super sweet and the seeds inside give it a pleasant crunch and nutty taste when eaten. This is one cultivar I am recommending to my Celeste growing neighbors who want to extend their fig season.
